But his fast life led to struggles with substance abuse. He recalls a time when drugs, especially cocaine, were everywhere in Hollywood. Facing a pivotal moment in his life, Lowe recognized the need for change, prompted by a personal crisis that would set him on a new course.
In the early '90s, Lowe knew the severity of his situation. At 26, after a night out, he missed a critical voicemail from his mother. She was calling to tell him about his grandfather's heart attack, but Lowe was too drunk to respond. This was a wake-up call for him.

Knowing he had to change, Lowe went to rehab. This began his path to not drinking. "I've never been happier, personally or professionally," Lowe shares, thankful for his better life. Meeting Berkoff was key. She gave him the steadiness and insight he needed to get better.
With Berkoff's support, Lowe confronted his addiction, resulting in his career's resurgence. Lowe proved that personal transformation can pave the way for professional rejuvenation.

Their strong bond led them to get married in 1991. Together, they have two sons, Matthew, 30, and John Owen, 28.
Berkoff stands out not just as Lowe's supportive partner but also for her own impressive career. Born in June 1961, she made a name for herself as a talented makeup artist in Hollywood, working on more than 30 films and TV shows. She's known for her creative work with famous stars, including Lowe.
Berkoff's creativity didn't stop there. She also founded Sheryl Lowe Jewelry, channeling her love for the '70s surf culture and music into her designs. Her brand is known for its colorful, unique pieces that mix rare gems with a touch of spirituality.
Her jewelry line, praised for its lively colors and unique designs, captures the spirit of the '70s while offering modern luxury.
Berkoff's impact on Lowe goes beyond her professional success. As his life partner, she has played a crucial role in his journey.
Lowe often shares his deep appreciation for his wife. For instance, celebrating their 31st anniversary on Instagram last year, he expressed, "Your love has made my world. You are as beautiful, knowledgeable, fascinating, kind, and hilarious as you were so many glorious years ago. Partners in love for life!!"
Their enduring bond is rooted in a deep friendship. Lowe says, "It starts at the very beginning. I married my best friend, and if you're lucky enough to be in a relationship with your best friend, you're so far ahead of the game."
Lowe talks about how well they get along too, and how they "see the world the same way." They agree on important things, like raising kids and handling money. They also make a point to stay close, changing their rule from being apart for no more than two weeks to just one.

Rob Lowe Finally Reveals The Secret To Looking So Youthful At 60, Yet Notes One 'Embarrassing' Thing About It

Recently, Lowe shared the secret that many have been wanting to hear from him: what he does to stay young. The actor revealed that he puts in the work to care for his physical appearance and overall well-being. His holy grail for the fountain of youth is sleep.
"I get tons of sleep," he admitted. "Like, an embarrassing amount. I don't want people to think something is wrong with me. It's a lot of sleep, not 12 hours. But if there's ever 12 [hours] to be had, I'm taking it."
In between work and home, he relaxes in his SUV with reclined seats. He also gets help by using Bose noise-canceling headphones and an eye mask. He previously even shared a photo of himself sleeping with his dog, claiming mornings were not their thing.
Besides getting enough shut-eye, he keeps an eye on the food and beverages he consumes. Since his 30s, Lowe's diet has been consisting of low carbohydrate, high protein food, which he said made a "big difference" in his life. Admittedly, he misses binging on carbohydrates but knows how food can affect his appearance.
He also strays away from alcoholic beverages, marking his 33 years of sobriety. "When you think about the calories and the bloat you're missing. That just adds up. So that's super helpful," he said.
Lowe has also spent the past years focusing on his family, including his wife of over three decades and their sons. Lowe married makeup artist Sheryl Berkoff in 1991 and have since been inseparable.
Within four years, they welcomed two sons, who Lowe described as "amazing." By then, he felt ready for fatherhood and raising his kids alongside Berkoff. Looking back, Lowe is happy with how his life turned out and the decisions he made in starting a family.
