Getting Botox

On August 1, 2024, Simone Biles appeared in a TikTok video showing her getting ready for the Paris Olympic Games. During the more-than-four-minute clip, she revealed that she once got Botox but described it as "baby Botox."

She got the procedure done but didn't like it. The artistic gymnast, born in Columbus, Ohio, revealed that she hasn't gotten the procedure again. Sadly, the gold medalist's followers and fans weren't pleased to hear about the Botox.

Readers Criticize the Need for Botox

Those who read about Biles having Botox jumped into a publication's comment section to share their opinions. One person revealed that they'd gotten plastic surgery and understood people's desires to have it but complained, "I absolutely hate how normalized (cosmetic) Botox has become for people in their 20s and 30s."

The reader added, "It makes me so angry. I'm in my 30s and most people I know have barely noticeable lines/wrinkles." The person continued, "Like imagine if it became this normalized for young people to get breast lifts as soon as their boob perk dropped by one cm...."

Another person who disapproved wrote, "She's 27 and beautiful. Why would she need Botox? (I'm against anyone getting Botox unless it's medically necessary - put aside your narcissism and just accept that people grow old)."

The fan found it unfortunate that we live in a world where we are "constantly told how to look 'good.'" The person also complained about commercial industries forcing "the standard of beauty" on society.

They concluded their post by noting, "Beauty is subjective and just because an individual who is as shallow as a worm's grace doesn't think you're beautiful, doesn't mean you're not." A third person thought it was "heartbreaking that a stunning, young, amazing athlete would feel the need for Botox."

They continued, "The trend of eliminating all lines of expression on our faces needs to stop! Laugh and frown lines are a sign of life." Someone else who agreed with the others stated, "That beauty did NOT need Botox."

The person said, "Glad she's not getting it now - her skin is flawless, and the power of melanin will ensure her beauty endures." In her TikTok video, Biles also revealed why she isn't planning on getting the procedure again.

Why Biles Won't Get Botox Again

In her TikTok, Biles revealed that she got "baby Botox, just right here in my T-zone" in March 2024. The athlete, born on March 14, 1997, got the procedure done for her 27th birthday. According to reports, baby Botox is quite like the regular one.

The Cleveland Clinic's website explains that baby Botox focuses on specific areas on one's face. It also uses less Botox while the normal one "uses much more of the toxin in each injection."

What made Biles feel she won't get the procedure again was that during practice her "eyebrow would be slowly going up" toward the top of her forehead. Her teammates would point it out to her when it happened, but she couldn't control the eyebrow or move it back down.

After around 20 seconds, the eyebrow would go back down, with the phenomenon occurring randomly. But now that she has full mobility again, she's able to do "all the facials" and vowed never to delve into that world. Biles' look has changed mildly over the past decades.

The Athlete's Belief in Having Confidence

During a past interview, Simone Biles shared how she wants young people to have the same confidence she has. The star, the first gymnast of any gender to get eight US all-around titles in 2023, said having confidence is important.

She felt it was essential, especially when starting sports during puberty. The athlete said it was important "that they have confidence to know that they can do anything that they put their minds to."

Biles believed that during puberty, one's mind starts wondering, and one might want to quit or give up on whatever sport. She continued, "So I think these daily reminders on some of these items of clothing [are] really wonderful for them to just see and then to know that, oh, 'Simone said this.' Go for it full force and you can do anything."
