The lovebirds first met in 2013 on the set of the World War II film, "Suite Française." Robbie was in front of the camera while Tom Ackerley was an assistant director.

Robbie and Ackerley started as friends and collaborated on the production company, LuckyChap. They worked together with the actress's childhood friends Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara. This is the company that produced "Barbie," which Robbie starred in.
