Kelly Osbourne's Partner, Sid Wilson, Shares Update on His Condition after the Terrible Explosion: Here's What Really Happened
Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is recovering from severe burns after an explosion left him hospitalized. His chilling account reveals just how quickly things went wrong.
Sid Wilson, the 47-year-old Slipknot DJ and partner of Kelly Osbourne, suffered serious burns on his face and arms following a fire accident on his property in Iowa. The explosion occurred when Wilson was tending to a wood burn pile near his residence, which he shares with Osbourne and their one-year-old son, Sidney.
His admirers and supporters have been eagerly waiting for any news about his health. Luckily, the DJ’s recent accounts reveal the full extent of the accident and his road to recovery, as well as a deep warning for anyone dealing with fire.
During the weekend of August 24, Wilson’s "lack of patience" while handling a burning wood pile led to an unexpected fire blast. This left him badly injured and in urgent need of medical attention.
"My whole right arm is bandaged up, half of my left arm," he revealed during a phone call to Fox News. "My face is basically melted from nose down." The DJ also mentioned that the swelling had lessened and his skin was healing quickly.
But then, he went into details about what led to this disaster. "A few nights ago, I lit it and let it burn down," Wilson explained. "So, the next day, I went to check it to see, you know, how much was left, if anything. And there was a certain amount of debris around the side still left, so I, like a dummy, [did] what I'm not supposed to do, but I added some gas to it."
Even though he took the precaution of moving the gas can a considerable distance from the pile, Wilson acted rashly, and he started the fire without taking the necessary safety measures. As he ignited the pile, the flames erupted unexpectedly. "It just … woof. Exploded," he recalled.
In the immediate aftermath, Wilson jumped onto his four-wheeler and rushed to the house to get Osbourne and their son to safety. They drove down the gravel country roads to a nearby urgent care center, and he was later transferred to a larger hospital in Des Moines.
His memory became foggy as he was finally given painkillers for his injuries, but he vividly remembers the intensity of the situation and the urgency to keep moving.
Kelly Osbourne also shared her perspective during the interview, providing details about the treatment her partner underwent. She described how the medical team dressed the wounds and applied a temporary protective covering over his body until he could be transferred to the burn unit, where they could remove it.
From Des Moines, Wilson was transferred to a specialized burn unit in Iowa City, approximately two hours away, where he spent the night receiving further treatment. After being discharged, The Slipknot band member continued his recovery at home, where Osbourne took on the role of caregiver.

"Halfway there," he captioned the clip, noting that his face looked significantly better. The video also showed nurses carefully removing his bandages and revealing the extent of his healing. Despite the medication, the musician still winced in pain during this procedure.
On August 30, Osbourne posted a clip of her caring for Wilson, displaying the painful process of removing bandages that had fused with his skin. "Warning, this is nasty!!!!!" she captioned the video and added this was the most challenging aspect of tending to Sidney's injuries.

It filled her with anxiety about causing him pain. She resorted to using scissors to remove the adhered bandages while being visibly nervous and agitated.
Fans and celebrities alike expressed their shock and support in the comments on Wilson’s social media update. One fan wrote, "What happened??" while another commented, "OMG 😮 it hurts, stay strong Sid [sic]."
Record producer FuntCase sent a supportive message, "This guy is Wolverine, this [expletive] JUST happened." Ray Luzier of KORN added, "Looking better man, much love ❤️❤️❤️."
As reported previously, Wilson was rushed to the hospital after an explosion left him with serious injuries. He didn't disclose many details about the incident immediately, but he shared the first updates from his hospital bed.
"Hey everybody, I had an explosion in my face," Wilson explained while having difficulty straightening on his bed. "I'm gonna be okay, but I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms."
Wilson described the extent of his injuries, revealing that doctors performed X-rays to ensure he hadn't inhaled flames, and noted that his eyebrows were singed, his mouth blistered, and his arms burned.
Meanwhile, Osbourne shared her frustrations on her Instagram stories and warned people of the dangers of burn piles. "He literally set himself on fire and exploded everything," she said while holding their baby.

In another post, Wilson updated fans as he was transported to another medical facility, assuring them that he was "in good hands" and would soon be sporting a new look. "They're going to shave my head," he shared.
Slipknot also addressed the incident, reassuring fans that Wilson was recovering and would join them on stage at Rocklahoma on September 1st. As of this writing, there's no official word on whether he performed or not.
Regardless, in the face of this setback, Wilson's resilience shines through his videos, but he has one message for everyone: “Don’t [expletive] around with fire. It’s going to win every time.”
