Hoda Kotb turned 60 last August. About a month later, she had an emotional moment on "Today," as she shared how her milestone birthday made her rethink how she wants to spend her time.

Known for her upbeat personality and dedication to her work, she now seems ready to shift her focus toward something more personal and meaningful. But this is not a decision she made lightly.

A Tearful Goodbye to 'Today'

For years, Kotb has been a cherished presence on morning television, but in September 2024, she announced that she will leave the show early next year. As she reflected on her accomplishments, she tearfully shared with viewers on "Today" that it was time to move on.

"I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new," Kotb said tearfully on the September 26 episode of "Today." The mother of two revealed that her decision was inspired by her desire to give her girls more of her time, noting, "I feel like we only have a finite amount of time."

As Kotb put it, her daughters deserved a bigger piece of her "time pie." However, it wasn't just her milestone birthday that prompted this choice. Kotb's desire to spend more time with her two daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, played a significant role.

"Obviously, I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking they deserve a bigger piece of my time," she admitted. Although leaving the show wasn't an easy decision, Kotb felt that it was time to prioritize her family and make the most of the years ahead.

The Move to the Suburbs — A Fresh Start

Before officially announcing her departure from the "Today" show, Kotb had already started making changes. She decided to leave the bustling streets of Manhattan behind and move to a quiet suburb.

This shift wasn't easy. Kotb acknowledged that staying put would have been more convenient, but she felt drawn to a small town. "I found this spot that I liked, a little town that had all the things that could teach my kids independence," she shared.

It wasn't just about the physical move — it was about creating a home where Haley and Hope could feel secure, loved, and excited about their surroundings. She wanted to create a nurturing environment for her two daughters.

"I want my house for the kids to feel warm and cozy and a place where they want to hang," she explained. As Kotb prepared for the transition, she came up with a term that perfectly described her feelings: "repotting."

Just like a plant that outgrows its pot, she felt that her family was ready for something bigger and better — a place where they could continue to flourish. The idea of "repotting" also resonated with her daughters, though in a lighthearted way.

When Kotb told them they were moving, she explained the concept of repotting. At first, the girls were confused. "They're like, 'What? We're moving?'" Kotb recounted with a smile, before reassuring them that the move was just another step in their family's journey.

A Look Inside Hoda Kotb's Stunning $2.89M Suburban Home

Kotb's decision to move from Manhattan to Bronxville, New York, marked a big change for the TV personality. The $2.89 million home she purchased through a trust linked to her name is a place where her family can thrive.

Located just 30 minutes from Midtown Manhattan, her new home offers the perfect balance between a peaceful suburban life and easy access to the city when needed.

Built in 1952, the 4,000-square-foot Colonial boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms, offering plenty of space for Kotb, Haley, and Hope. The house's bright and airy design, along with recent renovations by local builders, reflects Kotb's desire for a warm, welcoming environment for her family.

EC Builders, the company behind the remodel, shared their gratitude on social media for completing the project just in time for the family to move in at the end of the summer.

The home is designed for family living, with a layout that flows seamlessly from room to room. The main level includes a chef's kitchen, a formal dining room, and a sun-drenched family room with a vaulted ceiling and custom built-ins.

Outside, a large bluestone patio serves as the perfect spot for al fresco dining and outdoor fun. For Kotb, having a backyard was one of the biggest perks of moving from her Manhattan apartment to the suburbs.

The primary bedroom suite spans an impressive 764 square feet and features custom closets, cabinetry, and a luxurious bathroom with radiant heat, marble floors, and dual sinks. The lower level of the house also includes bonus space that can serve as a living area or playroom for the kids.

The lot itself, covering a third of an acre, is filled with blooming flowers, and Kotb has already started making use of the outdoor space for entertaining friends, including her "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie.

In Kotb's words, this new house is meant to feel "warm and cozy," a place where her daughters can feel at home. With their own bedrooms and personal spaces to enjoy, Haley and Hope are already thrilled with their new surroundings.

Bittersweet Memories of Manhattan

While Kotb is excited about her new suburban life, the move hasn't been without its emotional challenges. On a June 2024 episode of "Today with Hoda & Jenna," she teared up as she reflected on leaving her beloved Manhattan apartment.

This was the place where she brought both of her daughters home for the first time, and it's filled with memories of their earliest days. Kotb shared how difficult it was to say goodbye to the apartment where so many firsts took place — from watching her daughters crawl up the stairs to seeing them race down them as they grew older.

"It's like you want to hold onto things, and you want to let go," she confessed, her voice thick with emotion. Leaving behind those cherished memories was bittersweet, but Kotb knew that moving forward was necessary for her and her children's future.

Hoda Kotb's New Life and What's Next

As Kotb embarks on this new chapter of her life, her focus is now fully on her family. While stepping away from "Today" and moving to the suburbs was a major shift, it brought her closer to the life she envisions for herself and her daughters.

With a beautiful new home that offers them space to grow and thrive, Kotb is excited for what the future holds. Though leaving behind Manhattan and her position at "Today" was bittersweet, Hoda Kotb is embracing the change. This fresh start marks the beginning of something special, both for her and her family.
