Prince Harry Breaks His Silence Over Alleged 'Physical Fight' with Prince Andrew
Fresh claims from a new royal biography have prompted a swift response from the Duke of Sussex, as the book revives decade-old allegations involving tensions with the Duke of York and criticism of the Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Harry has publicly denied claims of a physical altercation with his uncle, Prince Andrew, and dismissed allegations that Andrew made disparaging remarks about Meghan Markle.

"I can confirm neither of those things are true," a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said in a statement to Us Weekly on Saturday, August 2, 2025. "Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry."
The statement followed the publication of an excerpt from the book "Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York" by royal biographer Andrew Lownie.

The book, which will be published on August 14, 2025, explores the personal and public controversies surrounding Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, drawing on more than a hundred interviews and years of investigative research.
The excerpt, published by the Daily Mail, details an alleged confrontation between Prince Harry and Prince Andrew at a family event in 2013. According to a source close to both men, the incident began when Andrew made comments behind Harry's back.

Harry confronted him, calling him a coward for not saying it to his face. The argument reportedly escalated, and punches were thrown. Harry allegedly got the better of Andrew, leaving him with a bloody nose before others intervened and stopped the fight.
Following the confrontation, the book claims Andrew later told Harry that his marriage to Meghan Markle would not last more than a month. He also reportedly accused Harry of going "bonkers" and not conducting proper due diligence into Meghan's past.

Andrew allegedly described Meghan as an opportunist and suggested she was too old for Harry. He is said to have warned Harry that he was making the biggest mistake of his life.
The confrontation reportedly left lasting tension between the two royals, with the source adding, "Harry later told William he hated Andrew."

The new book also comes amid renewed scrutiny of Prince Andrew's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew's association with Jeffrey, who died in jail in 2019, remains a source of controversy.
In the same year, both Andrew and Jeffrey were accused of sexual abuse and sex trafficking by Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year (April 2025) at the age of 41.

Prince Andrew denied any wrongdoing. In a BBC interview aired in November 2019, he stated he had no memory of meeting Virginia, despite a widely circulated photo of the two together when she was underage. He also stated that he did not regret his friendship with Epstein, noting that it had "some seriously beneficial outcomes."

During the interview, Andrew described Jeffrey's behavior as "in a manner unbecoming," a remark for which he quickly apologized, saying, "I'm being polite."
Virginia later filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew in August 2021. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly at the time, the case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Surprisingly enough, Prince Harry isn't the only royal linked to reported tensions with the Duke of York. Four months earlier, in March 2025, Prince William's noticeable absence from a key royal event raised similar questions about the ongoing strain behind palace walls.
At the time, royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths stated that Prince William was deliberately steering clear of Prince Andrew, whom she described as a persistent issue for the royal family, with controversies that continued to reappear frequently.

Speaking to GB News on April 28, 2025, Charlotte addressed the renewed attention on the Duke of York following the death of Virginia Giuffre. Virginia had previously accused Prince Andrew of sexual assault when she was a minor.
The royal commentator further explained that the Prince of Wales did not attend the Easter service, where Andrew appeared publicly.

She said, "Andrew popped up, didn't he, at the Easter service. Prince William was notably absent, because William won't be seen anywhere near his uncle. He knows that Andrew is an unsolvable problem, and his issues resurface with alarming regularity. It's a problem that simply won't go away. Yet another chapter has unfolded, sadly, with the news that Virginia Giuffre has died by suicide."

She questioned Andrew's public presence at Easter, given his absence from other royal events. "Given that Andrew wasn't even allowed to attend the Sandringham Christmas service, I found it very surprising that he thought he could show up at Easter," she added.

"What happens is that, every now and then, Andrew gets it into his head that he can find a way back, even though the signals are very, very clear that he can't. In 2021, he even planned a return. That was only about a year after the Newsnight interview. So, really, the fullness of time hasn't taught him anything about his exile," divulged Charlotte.

In response to Virginia's death, an emergency meeting was held at Buckingham Palace on Friday, April 26. King Charles, Prince William, senior advisors, legal counsel, and public relations staff met to discuss the situation privately.

According to a Palace source, there was a difference of opinion during the meeting. "William thinks they need to show humanity," the source stated. "Charles just wants it to disappear."

Prince Andrew's royal roles were revoked following his association with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The latest events have renewed scrutiny over his position and the challenges he presents to the monarchy.
