Kate Gosselin Asks for Prayers as She Shares Updates from the Hospital – Details
While the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" star recovers from emergency surgery and shares brief updates online from the hospital, some followers believe they know why.
Former reality television star Kate Gosselin is in recovery after being hospitalized for emergency surgery earlier this week, prompting concern with a series of emotional updates shared from her hospital bed.

The 50-year-old registered nurse first alerted her followers on Monday, September 29, with a somber photo posted to TikTok. In the dimly lit image, Kate lay beneath a hospital blanket, her hand hooked up to IV lines and monitoring equipment.
She told her TikTok followers she was feeling scared but hopeful, and asked for their prayers as she prepared for what lay ahead.
The next morning, Tuesday, September 30, Kate followed up with another update — a selfie from her hospital bed. In her caption, she revealed she had undergone surgery earlier that day and was recovering with the help of multiple pain medications.
She described the experience as one of the "top 3 most painful surgery[sic]" she had been through, but reassured her followers that the operation had been successful.
Later that day, Kate announced her plan to go live from the hospital to explain what had happened. The livestream was scheduled for 8:30 p.m., although she cautioned that timing could shift depending on whether she was moved to another room.
"And for the record, my nasal cannula is actually a nasal canial, not earphones! 🤣 just call me Hospital Bobette 🤣🤣🤣 (if I don't laugh, I'll cry… again!) see you tonight!" she captioned.
While Kate hasn't confirmed what caused the injury, several TikTok users who claimed to have watched the livestream said she broke her leg while walking her dog.
As Kate continues to recover, attention has also turned to her strained family relationships — particularly with her son, Collin Gosselin, who has publicly shared his perspective on their fractured bond.
On August 7, Collin shared a deeply personal message to his seven siblings — a rare and emotional glimpse into the toll that years under the spotlight have taken on their once unbreakable bond.

Posting to TikTok, the 21-year-old uploaded a throwback photo of the eight siblings together, smiling in simpler times. The image featured twins Mady and Cara, now 24, and his fellow sextuplets — Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah, and Joel. In the caption, Collin reflected that they were meant to take on the world together.
He followed it with a second photo of himself driving alone, reflecting on how they now face life separately. He wondered what things might have been like if they had gone through it all together.
The post, set to Adele's 2007 song "Hometown Glory," had an emotional message. Collin wrote, "Forced apart, pitted against each other. All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids? I will always love them more than anything. The tears I shed behind closed doors, thinking about the memories we could've shared. I love you guys❤️."

After the 21-year-old shared his heartfelt video, fans quickly filled the comments with messages of concern and curiosity. One person questioned, "Do you still talk with Hannah? I don't want 'tea' or anything, just hoping you still had one sibling on your side!"
In response, Collin revealed that he had seen Hannah earlier that day. He said he'd helped check her car during an inspection and added that her sense of humor always brightens his day. Though both are tied up with work and school, he said he treasures the time they do get to spend together.

One commenter suggested that if Collin one day became a parent himself and stayed involved in his children's lives, he might come to understand his mother’s actions. Collin replied bluntly to this comment, "The physical and emotional abuse I was put through, while having to be an animal in her circus on TV. Being locked up, isolated, zip-tied. Being sent away because I didn't fit into an equation."
He continued, "Having one visit from her after being completely cut off with no contact at 12 years old, in which the whole visit was her telling me how I deserved the situation I was in because I 'destroyed our family.' Yeah, I'm sorry, but I will never 'understand' that. I will break the cycle that she couldn't."

One supporter shared their concern, "As a mother my biggest worry is that my children won't have each others backs as adults. I hope that your siblings will reach out to you and your sister again."
In response, Collin said, "I can't wait to have kids and teach them the importance of siblings. I tell all my friends who have siblings to always value their siblings and hold each other close."
In 2024, Collin Gosselin opened up about his time in an institution and revealed something that shocked many fans — he hadn’t seen or spoken to his siblings since 2016. He claimed his mother had sent him away, not because of a behavioral disorder, as she had said in the past, but to protect the family's public image.
Collin said he was treated differently from his seven siblings. Despite being part of one of the most well-known reality TV families at the time, he shared that he spent most of his childhood feeling alone and isolated from the rest of the family.

He claimed there were times when his hands and feet were zip-tied, and he was locked in a basement room that had been specially built, containing nothing but a bed and surveillance cameras to monitor him. He said he was sometimes left there for hours at a time, even an entire day, and that it happened on multiple occasions.
At just 11 years old, Collin was admitted to a mental health facility after being diagnosed with several behavioral and psychiatric conditions — diagnoses he strongly disputes. He has since shared private medical records in an effort to prove he never had any such illnesses.

Haunted by what he called a near-nonexistent childhood, Collin made one thing clear — if he ever becomes a father, his kids will never be put in front of a camera. Despite everything, he emphasized his deep love for his siblings, saying he would never harm them or speak badly about them.
"I think if we knew each other today, we'd be very good friends," he said, adding that he believes their negative comments about him in the media are the result of their mother's influence. Despite the distance, Collin remains hopeful for reconciliation. "Something I want more than anything. I just want to see my siblings," he noted, convinced they could still be a team again.
Kate Gosselin has denied intentionally harming Collin. Her lawyer, Richard Puleo, said she acted to protect herself and her family from what he described as troubled behavior. In a 2023 statement, Kate reiterated that Collin had received "multiple psychiatric diagnoses."
After several failed outpatient treatments, she said he was placed in a facility for the safety of herself and her other children. She stated that emergency room doctors admitted him following "one of his many attacks/outbursts," this time involving a weapon.

Kate asserted that Collin's erratic and aggressive behavior continued. She claimed that one of his symptoms was "a distorted perception of reality," which led him to completely fabricate incidents. Kate also maintained that all steps taken to help Collin were done under the guidance of his pediatric psychiatrist and a team of specialists.
Even after his release from the facility, Kate described her son as a "troubled young man" in need of help. She explained that both she and her other children have chosen to stay away from Collin, citing fears over what she called his "unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies" toward the family.
Collin’s father, Jon, has stood firmly by his son's side, claiming the alleged mistreatment took place after his divorce from Kate, during a time when he had no custody of their sextuplets or twins.
Jon also said that over the years, he received between 50 and 60 letters from the Department of Human Services, each one notifying him that suspected child abuse reports involving Collin or the other children were under investigation.
Jon alleged that Kate sent what she described as a "difficult" and "stubborn" Collin to a care facility despite there being no diagnosed medical condition apart from ADHD. He claimed Collin was "caged" for three years, and during that time, Kate visited him only three times for less than two hours total, without ever disclosing his location to Jon.
With conflicting accounts from both parents, Collin has made it clear that his focus is on the future. More than anything, he hopes to rebuild his relationship with his siblings, if the opportunity ever comes.
