As reported by The Guardian on September 17, 2025, Utah County District Attorney (DA) Jeff Gray announced formal charges against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, the man accused of gunning down the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA on September 10.

Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and witness tampering — a list that paints a grim picture of calculated violence. Prosecutors allege that after the shooting, Tyler told his roommate to delete incriminating texts and to stay silent if questioned by police.

The DA confirmed the state will seek the death penalty, citing two aggravating factors under Utah law: the killing was politically motivated, and children were present when the shots were fired.

But while legal wheels turn, it was Charlie's widow who stunned the public into silence. Appearing on "Megyn Kelly Live" on November 25, Erika recalled the moment at her husband's memorial that caught many off guard: her public forgiveness of the accused killer.

When asked what she would say to Tyler or his family, Erika's voice didn't tremble with rage, only moral certainty. She told host Megyn Kelly:

"It wouldn't be sympathy. It wouldn't be anger," she said. "How do you put this? Anything that I could ever wish upon him or the family would pale in comparison [to] the justice of God. And so, I would look at them, almost like, 'I'm so glad I'm not you.'"

As the legal process moves forward, Erika's interview adds a public statement to the case record, while prosecutors continue to pursue capital charges.
