The 41-year-old Duke of Sussex appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where what began as light banter quickly spiraled into a political jab — and some viewers were not amused.

In the now-viral clip, Harry is greeted by thunderous applause, prompting Colbert to ask, "Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales Sussex. What are you doing here?"

"Sorry. I uh [...] I genuinely thought this was the audition for 'The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska,'" Harry quipped, triggering laughs from the audience.

Boos Erupt as Harry Targets Trump with Thinly Veiled 'King' Remark
Colbert played along, calling the fictional film a "fantastic" idea — but wondered aloud why a royal would be interested in such a role.

"Well, you Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies and you're clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?" Harry replied. Colbert attempted to walk it back, saying, "I wouldn't say we're obsessed with royalty."

But Harry wasn't done. "Really? I heard you elected a king," the royal said.
The jab — clearly aimed at Trump — was met with a wave of boos from the audience, and Colbert, caught off guard, admitted, "That's a fair point."

Harry pressed on. "And after making such a big deal about my great, great, great, great, great, grandfather George III..." he added. "Well, he was kind of a jerk," Colbert interjected. "Okay, let it go," Harry said.
'Shut Up Harry!': Fans Erupt in Disgust Over 'Embarrassing' Appearance
Despite the lighthearted nature of the banter, the reaction online was swift — and brutal. Royal fans and social media users slammed Harry's performance, accusing him of attention-seeking, humiliation, and outright disrespect.

"What a fall from grace," one Instagram user wrote. "Yup... threw it all away acting like a plank," another scoffed.
"From a real prince to a nobody!!! As if Trump gives a [expletive]? Disappear back under your rock ginger nuts!!!" raged a third. "Shut up Harry for goodness sake," one viewer snapped.

Others expressed pity rather than anger. "How far can Harry fall? This is so fake and contrived, it is embarrassing... Should turned this gig down. Sad, just sad [sic]," one user lamented.
"How low can you go," another added."I feel sad for him. His literally become a jester. At least Diana doesn't have to witness the humiliation Harry is providing [sic]," a third wrote.

Harry's Joke Hits Close to Home — Tied to Trump's 'King' Post
The Duke's quip appeared to reference a February Instagram post by the White House, showing a digitally altered image of Trump smiling with a gold crown on his head.
"CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!" the caption read, signed off by Trump. That same month, the president made headlines for a very different reason — weighing in on Harry's controversial U.S. immigration status.
Questions Linger Over Harrys U.S. Visa After Drug Use Revelation
Harry is currently entangled in a legal battle over whether he should have been granted a U.S. visa in the first place, following his own public admissions of illegal drug use in his memoir "Spare."

The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank, has sued the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., to force the release of his visa records — claiming he may have lied on his application.

"Anyone who applies to the United States has to be truthful on their application, and it is not clear that is the case with Prince Harry," said Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation.

In "Spare," Harry admitted to using cocaine, cannabis, and psychedelics — all of which should typically disqualify an applicant for a U.S. visa.
Critics accuse the Biden administration of giving Harry and Meghan preferential treatment since their high-profile move to California in 2020 after their dramatic split from the royal family.

Trump: 'I'll Leave Him Alone. He's Got Enough Problems with His Wife'
Despite the controversy, Trump said earlier this year that he wouldn't deport Harry — though his reasoning was anything but kind.
"I don't want to do that. I'll leave him alone. He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible," he told the New York Post.

Trump also praised Harry's estranged brother, Prince William, calling him, "A great young man." The two had met privately during a December visit to Paris for the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

A Royal War of Words: Meghan and Trump's Longstanding Feud
Harry and Meghan have long voiced their distaste for Trump. The Duchess of Sussex once described the president as "divisive" and "misogynistic." Trump, in turn, has lashed out at Harry, branding him "whipped" by Meghan.
"I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose," he said.

With each new jab, the rift between royalty and politics deepens — and it seems Prince Harry, once dubbed the People's Prince, now finds himself with few allies on either side of the pond.
