The glittering facade of Hollywood was shattered this week by a truly unimaginable tragedy — one that has left even the most jaded insiders reeling.

Beloved Hollywood power couple Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead inside their palatial Los Angeles estate on Sunday afternoon, just hours after attending a glittering Christmas party hosted by talk show titan Conan O'Brien. But the most stunning twist? Their own son, Nick Reiner, has now been arrested on suspicion of their brutal murders.

Blood-Soaked Hotel Room and a Sinister Sunday Check-In

According to sources who spoke to TMZ, 32-year-old Nick checked into The Pierside Hotel in Santa Monica at 4 a.m. Sunday morning — mere hours after he was seen at the celebrity-studded Christmas bash with his parents the night before.

Witnesses claim Nick appeared "tweaked out" at check-in. But nothing could have prepared staff for the chilling scene that unfolded just hours later. When housekeepers entered his room, they found the shower full of blood, red stains on the bed, and bed sheets draped over the window in a makeshift curtain of secrecy.

TMZ reports that LAPD Robbery-Homicide detectives arrived at the hotel on Monday, gathering evidence and questioning employees in connection to what is shaping up to be one of Tinseltown's darkest family scandals in recent memory.

'Very Loud Argument' at Star-Studded Party Before Deaths

Sources say Nick's behavior had already raised eyebrows the night before at Conan's party. While guests sparkled in glam holiday fashion, Nick turned up in a sweatshirt and allegedly looked disheveled and intoxicated.

He reportedly wasn't interacting with anyone, appearing distant and withdrawn. But things soon escalated.

A family insider told TMZ that Nick got into a "very loud argument" with his father during the party — so loud, in fact, that other guests took notice. The Reiners were seen leaving soon afterward. Whether Nick left with them remains unclear.

'Two Dead Bodies' Found by Daughter After Missed Massage

The horror unfolded the following day, when the couple's masseuse arrived at their Brentwood home for a scheduled appointment at 2 p.m. Sunday — a gift of self-care that would never come to pass. After knocking and ringing the bell with no answer, the masseuse left.

But her concern sparked a chain reaction that would unearth a nightmare.

Romy Reiner, the couple's 28-year-old daughter who lives across the street, went to check on her parents — and made the devastating discovery.

Police were called around 3:30 p.m., and dispatch audio obtained by TMZ captured a firefighter at the home calling urgently for backup.

Inside, Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found slain — each suffering deep lacerations consistent with a knife attack. A family spokesman confirmed the tragedy in a brief statement:

"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."

Daughter Romy Points to Unconfirmed Family Member: 'They're Dangerous'

As the investigation began, Romy reportedly told LAPD that a family member — believed to be Nick — "should be a suspect" because they are "dangerous."

Police didn't wait long. That same night, Nick was tracked down and arrested roughly 20 miles away in Exposition Park, near downtown LA.

The following morning — Monday, 15 December — he was booked for felony murder. Initially held on $4 million bail, records now show he is being held without bail.

A Family Torn Apart by Addiction and Mental Illness

Behind the glitz and prestige of the Reiner family name lay a long and painful struggle. Nick battled substance abuse and mental illness for much of his young life, issues that appear to have persisted into his adulthood.

The screenwriter, who began using drugs in his teens, had been to rehab 17 times by the age of 22. He'd also experienced bouts of homelessness, often refusing help even when it was available. Though Rob and Michele never gave up on him, their relationship with their son was often fraught — with heartbreaking consequences.

According to sources close to the couple, the warning signs had been there for months. Michele had reportedly confided in friends that she and Rob were feeling overwhelmed and helpless over Nick's issues, desperate for a solution that never came.

"We've tried everything," she allegedly said.

Rob and Michele's Final Hours: A Mystery Still Unfolding

The Reiners had lived in their Brentwood home since 1991, property records confirm. Their residence, once a symbol of Hollywood success, has now become a crime scene cloaked in grief and confusion.

While police continue to comb through evidence and speak with witnesses, one question lingers: What happened between the time the couple left the party, and the moment Romy found them lifeless?

Brentwood's History of Celebrity Tragedies: Marilyn, Nicole... and Now the Reiners

This isn't the first time the exclusive Brentwood enclave has seen tragedy behind manicured hedges and gated driveways.

On August 5, 1962, Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood hacienda, sparking decades of conspiracy theories and suspicion.

Though ruled a "probable suicide," her delayed autopsy and missing phone records raised eyebrows — including those of forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht, who told PEOPLE in 2012 that he suspected Marilyn had been "injected" with Nembutal and chloral hydrate (found in her bloodstream), as no pills were found in her stomach.

Then came Nicole Simpson, ex-wife of O. J. Simpson, who was brutally murdered in 1994. The case consumed the nation as O. J. stood trial and was ultimately acquitted in 1995, though found liable in a 1997 civil case.

Now, with the violent deaths of Rob and Michele, Brentwood adds yet another name to its dark pantheon of Hollywood horror.
