Two Popular TV Shows Wrap Up After Successful Seasons at the Same Time – Details
Daytime television just shifted in a way few saw coming. Within hours, two long-running shows revealed they were nearing the end, setting off conversations about timing, priorities, and what really happens behind the scenes.
The singer behind some of the biggest hits of the past two decades and an actress turned daytime favorite found themselves linked by an unexpected coincidence: their talk shows.
But now they're joined in two announcements that have left many heartbroken and confused, especially regarding the strange timing.
A Decision Rooted in Gratitude and Family
On February 2, 2026, Kelly Clarkson shared a message that instantly caught fans' attention. The star confirmed that her current season of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" would be her last.
Rather than a dramatic press release, the news came directly from Kelly herself on Instagram, and her tone was grateful, reflective, and unmistakably final.
In her statement, Kelly wrote, "There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons." She then thanked the band, the crew, the talented and inspiring guests they've had over the years, as well as the fans and NBC.
"Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision — but this season will be my last hosting TKCS," she continued.
Afterward, the "Since You've Been Gone" singer revealed the reason for this choice. Kelly explained that stepping away from the daily talk show schedule would allow her to prioritize her kids, something she described as "necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."
The words carried extra weight given the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, the father of her children, last year. Against that backdrop, reclaiming time felt less like a career shift and more like an act of protection.

Still, Kelly was careful to reassure fans that she wasn't saying farewell. Instead, she teased about future music, occasional performances, and even surprise appearances on "The Voice." She finished her statement with:
"But for now, I want to thank y'all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years."
Another Show Ends as the Industry Shifts
Daytime television faced another shakeup just hours after Kelly shared her news. Producers officially ended Sherri Shepherd’s talk show, "Sherri," after four seasons.
The timing raised eyebrows immediately. Two popular daytime hosts announcing two exits, one voluntary and one not, all on the same day.
Yet, unlike Kelly's personal decision, "Sherri" came to an end for business reasons. The show debuted in 2022, took over the time slot of "The Wendy Williams Show," and earned six Daytime Emmy nominations during its run.
In a statement, Debmar-Mercury executives stressed that the cancellation was not because it lacked success. "This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show," they said, noting the production had many great moments this past season.
The network also made it clear that they haven't given up yet. The official announcement explained that they still have faith in both the host and the program, so they plan to look for new opportunities for it on different platforms.
While Sherri has yet to publicly address the news, her earlier words from the show's renewal now feel especially emotional. "I don't take it for granted that people welcome me into their homes daily," she previously said, adding that she worked hard to bring happiness, entertainment, and more to her viewers.
With both "The Kelly Clarkson Show" and "Sherri" heading toward their finales, questions are swirling about the future of daytime talk television. The contrast between the two exits is striking, but together they underscore how quickly even successful shows can disappear.
Still, it's understandable that Kelly Clarkson chose to put her kids first, as the past few months have been difficult. As previously reported, just days after his death on August 7, 2025, following a three-year battle with cancer, Brandon Blackstock's family confirmed plans for a celebration of life on Sunday, August 17, in Montana.

His obituary, shared by Butte Funeral Homes, reflected on his return to the "cowboy way of life" and named Brittney Marie Jones as a "beautiful and loving partner." Kelly was not mentioned in the list of surviving loved ones.

The obituary listed Brandon's four children — Savannah Blackstock Lee, Seth Blackstock, River Rose Blackstock, and Remington Blackstock — along with his parents, Narvel Wayne Blackstock and Elisa Gayle Ritter Gilbert.

It also named his stepparents, Reba McEntire, Laura Putty Blackstock, and Daniel Eugene Gilbert, his siblings Shawna Blackstock Meyers, Chassidy Blackstock Standefer, and Shelby McEntire Blackstock, and his grandchildren Lake Easton Lee, Julianna Rae Lee, and the soon-to-arrive LouCasey Lee.
From Talent Manager to Cowboy
After more than two decades in the music industry, Brandon moved to Montana to embrace the cowboy lifestyle he had always wanted.
There, he and Brittney Marie built a home together and worked side by side to establish Headwaters Livestock Auction and the Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman — ventures described in his obituary as his legacy.
Brittney Marie played a significant role in his professional life. According to her LinkedIn profile, she worked as a production assistant for Kelly from December 2016 to December 2018.
She became Brandon's executive assistant at Starstruck Entertainment, a position she held until mid-2020.
She later relocated to Montana, assuming her current role as executive assistant at V Bar V Cattle Co., LLC, in Philipsburg. Her LinkedIn also noted that she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Audio Production from The Art Institute of Tennessee–Nashville in 2011.
During her studies, she served two years as president of the Audio Engineering Society and gained hands-on experience with SSL Duality consoles, Pro Tools, and Logic. She also completed a six-month internship at Capitol Records in the marketing department.
The Life Celebration
The funeral home's announcement invited all friends and loved ones to attend Brandon's celebration of life, asking them to contact the family for service details. Instead of flowers, donations were requested for the Brandon Blackstock Memorial Fund at the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation.

Among the many public tributes was one from Brandon's former stepmother, Reba. She posted smiling photos of herself with him on Instagram, writing, "Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God. His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God's presence."

She continued, "There is no one else like him, and I'm thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again."
