Rod Stewart's Family Tree Revealed: A Newborn Grandchild, the Wife He Proposed to After 3 Weeks, and the Partner Who Sued Him for $25 Million — Photos
The singer's sprawling family tree began with a painful decision made before fame and fortune arrived. Decades later, it includes an audacious proposal over sandwiches, a multimillion-dollar courtroom fight, an enduring marriage pact, and a baby whose meaningful name moved an entire family.
Rod Stewart has eight children with five women, and their stories rarely follow the route expected of a rock star's family. Some entered entertainment, but others chose hockey, wellness, writing, business, and lives kept almost entirely away from public view.

Susannah Boffey and the Daughter They Could Not Raise
Stewart and his teenage girlfriend, Susannah Boffey, met at a nightclub before his music career took off. Their relationship produced his first child, but the young couple had neither the money nor the stability to raise her.
Their daughter was placed in care at one and moved between foster homes before Evelyn and Gerald Thubron adopted her at five. Boffey later said Stewart had romanticized their relationship in "Brighton Beach," a song from his 2013 album "Time," and accused him of abandoning both mother and child.
Stewart's version carried guilt of its own. In a later interview, he recalled the fear of telling his parents about the pregnancy.
"My mum wanted to know if I was going to get married, and I said, 'Well, not really, Mum,' you know. She's really old-fashioned. She said, 'Well, she won't get married in white, will she?' I didn't have a [expletive] clue what that meant."

Boffey and Stewart never rebuilt their relationship. Yet the daughter they gave up eventually found a way back to her famous father, though that reconciliation took almost half a century.
Alana Stewart, His First Wife, Carried Private Pain Into Hollywood
Alana Stewart, born Alana Kaye Collins in San Diego on May 18, 1945, endured abandonment, poverty, and an unstable childhood in rural Texas. She escaped to New York, became a Ford model, and built an acting career that included "Evel Knievel," "Night Call Nurses," and "Delivered."
She married actor George Hamilton in 1972 before marrying Stewart in 1979. Their glamorous life included famous friends and lavish travel, but she later acknowledged that she was deeply unhappy.

"I was expecting a man or the marriage to make me happy when it was really up to me to deal with what I had been holding deep inside me," she told CBS12. "Happiness is an inside job, isn't it?"
Her memoir, "Rearview Mirror", addressed her marriages, bulimia, depression, sexual assault, family addiction, and the death of her best friend, Farrah Fawcett, from anal cancer in 2009.

Kelly Emberg and the $25 Million Claim
Model and actress Kelly Emberg was born in Houston, Texas, on July 2, 1959. Her screen credits include "Portfolio," "Dumb Luck in Vegas," and "Art Be Damned!" Emberg met Stewart in 1983, and the two were living together by 1985. Their relationship ended in 1990 after they had welcomed their daughter, Ruby Stewart.

The separation soon entered a Los Angeles courtroom. Emberg filed a $25 million palimony claim, arguing that an agreement entitled her to half the assets accumulated during their relationship, including properties in Holmby Hills and Epping, England.
In June 1992, Judge David Horowitz dismissed the case, finding no merit in the claim that Stewart had promised to support Emberg for life. Stewart had already married his next wife by then.

Emberg eventually built a different kind of enterprise. She now describes herself on Instagram as the founder and CEO of sun-protection sportswear company BESO Shade, as well as an enthusiastic gardener and pickleball player.

Rachel Hunter and a Proposal Over Tuna Sandwiches
Rachel Hunter was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on September 8, 1969. An illness ended her childhood plans to become a ballet dancer, but modeling carried her from New Zealand to international magazine covers and eventually into acting.
Hunter was 21 when she met Stewart, who was 24 years older, in Los Angeles. During a 1996 television interview, she confirmed that he proposed only three weeks after they met, and that he did it over tuna fish sandwiches.

In a 1993 profile, Hunter described herself as the practical partner who kept their household organized. She also defended Stewart as an attentive father and welcomed his older children without trying to replace their mothers.

The couple separated in January 1999 after eight years together, although their divorce was not finalized until November 2009. Hunter later hosted "Rachel Hunter's Tour of Beauty," judged "New Zealand's Got Talent," and entered the South African jungle for the 2026 Australian season of "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!"
Her engagement to hockey player Jarret Stoll ended seven weeks before their planned 2009 wedding. As of 2026, Hunter had not publicly confirmed another relationship.
Penny Lancaster and the Small Rituals That Lasted
Penny Lancaster met Stewart in a nightclub after her friends dared her to request an autograph. When she mentioned studying photography, he invited her to photograph his concert the following night, a polished pickup line she later described in an interview as "crafty."
But they did not meet again for nine months. When Stewart finally left a message on her landline asking to see her, Lancaster arrived for their reunion completely covered in brown pleather trousers, a rollneck, and a buttoned jacket because she wanted him to understand there was more to discover.

After five years together, Stewart proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris on March 9, 2005. "I left it this long because I wanted to get it right this time," he said in a statement confirmed by People.
The couple married in 2007 and became parents to Alastair Stewart and Aiden Stewart after Lancaster endured two miscarriages and underwent IVF for their younger son. Their relationship has lasted through deliberate attention rather than one grand romantic trick.

Lancaster said they made a pact never to spend more than 10 days apart. She also told the Mirror that they protect time for meals together and regularly check in with each other amid work and parenting.
Those modest acts of care became their real marital secret. A bath waiting after traffic, a glass of wine, a phone call after work, or a cup of tea mattered because each showed that one partner had remembered the other.

Now, let's get to know his eight children.
Sarah Streeter, His Firstborn, Reclaimed the Word "Dad"
Sarah Streeter learned at 18 that Stewart was her biological father. The revelation stunned her, especially because she already had the singer's poster hanging in her bedroom. They met several times during her 20s, but their connection faded by the late 1980s.
Nearly 20 years of minimal contact followed, leaving Streeter with unhappiness and resentment as she watched his public family life from afar. After her adoptive mother, Evelyn Thubron, died in 2007, Stewart reached out.
Calls, emails, dinners, and family gatherings gradually brought Streeter closer to him, Penny Lancaster, and several of her half-siblings. Their changing language revealed how far they had come.
Stewart told the Standard, "We've just began to call each other 'father and daughter', which was hard because I didn't change nappies or take her to school, or help her do her homework."
Streeter initially struggled to call him "Dad" because that name already belonged to Gerald Thubron, the man who raised her. Eventually, she accepted that both relationships could hold different places in her life.
Her bond with Boffey remained broken. Streeter said their personalities and expectations clashed when they met, while Boffey's failure to acknowledge her adoptive mother's death caused deeper hurt.
She also objected when Boffey linked her failed romantic relationships to unresolved feelings about Stewart. In the Daily Mail, Streeter insisted those relationships ended for reasons unrelated to her father. "I used to be like Susannah, full of resentment," she admitted.
Although Streeter did not completely rule out reconciliation, she said Boffey would need to let go of her negativity first.
Kimberly Stewart, His Daughter With Alana Stewart, Became a Mother of Two
Kimberly Stewart was born in Holmby Hills, California, on August 20, 1979. Her screen work includes "Pacific Blue," "Undeclared," and "Lost Lake."
Kimberly shares daughter Delilah Genoveva Stewart Del Toro, one of Stewart's grandchildren, with actor Benicio del Toro and later welcomed a son whose life she has kept private. She continues to share selected glimpses of her family and work on social media.

Sean Stewart, His Son With Alana, Followed Music Into Reality Television
Sean Stewart grew up in Los Angeles and pursued songwriting, performing, modeling, and television production. He co-wrote and sang "In Crowd," the theme for the 2006 A&E reality series "Sons of Hollywood," in which he also appeared.
His career included runway appearances for Rock & Republic and Nico & Adrian. He married Jody Weintraub on February 14, 2023, though she later filed for divorce, and he continues to document parts of his life online.
Ruby Stewart, His Daughter With Kelly, Revealed the New Baby's Name
Ruby Stewart became a musician and mother, welcoming son Otis Kalick with husband Jake Kalick before expanding her family in August 2026. On August 9, she announced that her second child had arrived five days earlier.
Levi Rhodes Kalick was born at 6:58 p.m. on August 4, weighing nine pounds and measuring 20 inches. In her announcement, Ruby explained that Levi means "My Heart."
"Seeing Otis and Levi meet for the first time might have been the greatest experience of my life so far."
The post gave Stewart another grandson and Otis a younger brother. For a family formed across several relationships and generations, the name's meaning carried an especially tender weight.
Renée Stewart, His Daughter With Rachel, Built a Life Around Movement
Renée Stewart trained at the London Contemporary Dance School and completed 500 hours of yoga teacher training in India. Her work now connects dance, meditation, digital instruction, and wellness.
She has collaborated with fashion brands and professional choreographers while developing the on-demand platform "The Movement Library." Through her official site, Renée offers classes and experiences centered on breath, intuition, and physical awareness.
Liam Stewart, His Son With Rachel, Chose the Ice
Liam Stewart pursued professional hockey rather than his father's music career. Born in London on September 5, 1994, he represented both his English and New Zealand roots while playing center and left wing.
At 6 feet 1 inch, Liam joined the Milton Keynes Lightning for the 2026 to 2027 NIHL season, wearing number 94, according to his player profile. He is also the father of Louie Mark Roderick Stewart, born in May 2023, and his daughter, Elsie Stewart.
Alastair Stewart, His Older Son With Penny, Entered Fashion
Alastair Wallace Stewart began developing careers as both a model and writer. His professional biography describes editorial and campaign work shaped by his personal style, along with writing about identity, culture, and self-expression.
His route places him near the public eye without copying his father's musical career. Social media offers further snapshots of the image and voice he is building for himself.
Aiden Stewart, His Youngest Son With Penny, Remains Private
Aiden Patrick Stewart is currently 15, making him the youngest of Stewart's eight children. Little has been made public. His Instagram contains no regular posts, although its story highlights include a photograph with his father.
That quiet presence appears appropriate for a teenager growing up inside one of entertainment's most recognizable families.

Rod Stewart's family tree holds estrangement, divorce, reconciliation, and new beginnings in the same branches. Its newest name, Levi, means "My Heart," a fitting addition to a family that took decades to learn how to hold itself together.
