Saying goodbye to the ones we love is the hardest thing ever to do.

Actress and singer Queen Latifah has had to come to terms with that fact after her mother Rita Owen passed away a few days.

Latifah's mother Rita Owens had been suffering from chronic heart failure for the better part of a decade before succumbing at age sixty-nine.

Heart failure is a progressive condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently enough to meet the body’s needs.

Latifah's mother had been living with a defibrillator in her heart to prevent a heart attack and had to switch to a diet low in salt but heavy on vegetables.

She shared the sad news of her mother's death via a post that read,

'It is with a heavy heart that I share the news, my mother, Rita Owens passed away today. Anyone that has ever met her knows what a bright light she was on this earth. She was gentle, but strong, sweet, but sassy, worldly but pragmatic, a woman of great faith and certainly the love of my life'

'She had struggled with a heart condition for many years and her battle is now over'.

And a few days later, she shared a picture of her mother and her cousin Tina who has been part of the process all through the tough years.

'I’m so thankful for my cousin Tina holding my Mom down all these years! Couldn’t have done this without you Cousin!'.

Tina used to help take care of Latifah's mother, a process that Latifah once revealed that she enjoys doing when she isn't working.

'As a caregiver – it’s just like being a parent like some things really don’t matter,' Latifah said.

'All the kind of frivolous things sort of fall to the side because there’s something way more important than all that. And when we go through these things together as a family, I realize, these are the important things, these are the important moments'.

Latifah will just have to cherish those moments as no new ones will be made.

Hopefully, she has the fortitude to bear this great loss.

Do you think Queen Latifah will be able to cope with this loss?
