Pippa Middleton's dad-in-law arrested for the alleged rape of a minor
This scandal may not be an easy pill to swallow for the royal family, especially when a wedding is on the cards.
As reported in an article published by People, David Matthew's, the father-in-law of the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, Pippa Middleton, was arrested on Tuesday for accusations of allegedly molesting a minor in the 1990s.
Middleton married to James Matthews in May 2017. James' father, David, was arrested at the Paris' Orly Airport along with British reality star, Spencer Matthews, as reported by The Telegraph.
Matthews, who owns multiple hotels including the Eden Roc St. Barths, was taken into custody for interrogation by the officials of the French Minor Protection Brigade on Tuesday, as reported by AFP.
The charges against Matthews are related to incidents that took in France place between the years 1998 and 1999. The complaint that subsequently effected Matthews arrest was lodged in 2017.
A French judicial official released a public statement confirming that Matthews was in the custody of the police at the Brigade for the Protection of Minors. The Paris public prosecutor's office had initiated a judicial investigation following his arrest.
Matthew's case was being overlooked by an examining magistrate who charged him with the rape of a minor. As reported by The Sun UK, Matthews denied all the allegations against him.
David was present at the wedding of his son, James, and Pippa Middleton. The wedding ceremony was also attended by Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The wedding took place at St. Mark's Church at the Englefield Estate in Berkshire. The wedding location is very close to the residence of the Middleton family, Bucklebury Manor.
Middleton came into the public eye for the first time after she attended the royal wedding of her sister Kate and Prince William as Kate's maid of honor.
