Grace Beverly Jones was born on May 19, 1948, and is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, supermodel, record producer, and actress.
She had a strained relationship with her father because as a bishop he believed one should only use one's singing ability to glorify God.
While her mother, Marjorie, always supported Grace's career but could not be publicly associated with her music as Marjorie's father, William, was also a musician, and played with Nat King Cole.
The 80s pop singer described her childhood as having been 'crushed underneath the Bible' and has since refused to enter a Jamaican church due to her bad childhood experiences.
Grace started her modeling career in New York state, then in Paris, working for fashion houses such as Yves St. Laurent and Kenzo, and appearing on the covers of Elle and Vogue.
After that, she went on to music and became a pop icon and was known for her distinctive androgynous appearance and bold features.
In the 1970's, Grace Jone's became a star of New York City's Studio with her most popular albums including, 'Warm Leatherette', 'Nightclubbing' and 'Slave to the Rhythm.'
Grace had been married thrice but has a son with Jean-Paulo Goude, a full-time art director and photographer whom she described as the only man who ever made her knee buckle.
The couple broke apart after their son, Paulo was born in November 1979, but still remain very good friends with each other.
From an Instagram post, Paulo is all grown up and looks handsome but certainly does not look like his mother.
Grace Jones, 69, is now a grandmother to Athena, the 4-year-old daughter of Paulo, whom he had with his dancer wife, Azella.
