There are a lot of needs for aluminum foil. It can be used in cooking, dying your hair, and many more. In fact, Healthy Holistic Living shared that aluminum is the most widely distributed metal on the planet.
It comes as no surprise since it has proven to be very useful in our daily lives.
Even though aluminum foil almost has countless purposes, the product is actually very harmful to humans, as revealed by a recent study.
The study showed that the heat enables the aluminum from the foil to “leach out” straight into foods in surprisingly huge amounts.
There were high levels of aluminum in foods after they were cooked, reheated, and even cooled on aluminum foil according to the researchers. They also said that the high levels found are extremely dangerous.
It becomes most alarming when the aluminum amasses in the body. Too much storage of aluminum in a human’s system can lead to osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.
One of the authors in the study, Dr. Zubaidy, said, “The higher the temperature, the more the leaching. Foil is not suitable for cooking and is not suitable for using with vegetables like tomatoes, citrus juice or spices.”
Although, the researchers pointed out that not much leaching occurred by using aluminum foil to wrap cold foods. They concluded that it is safe for people to do so.
The study also did not show significant findings in discovering if there is a difference if the shiny or the dull side of the aluminum foil comes into contact with the food.
Some of the things that makes aluminum dangerous for the body is that it damages the Central Nervous System, it also depletes the body of valuable minerals, it can also damage the brain, and lastly, it can damage the bones.
