The 35-year-old singer and songwriter, Carrie Underwood shared the first close-up photo of her face while rehearsing for the Academy of Country Music Awards.

On April 15, 2018, she shared the image with her 7.1 million Instagram followers and exclaimed in the caption that she couldn't wait for the Awards. She performed her new single, Cry Pretty.

As reported by People, her emotional rendition of Cry Pretty marked her first public appearance since she was hospitalized in November 2017.

Her fans rushed to the comment section with words of encouragement. Pattie Spaulding said that Underwood was 'still more beautiful than ever.'

David DeMagistris said he is a former Marine and soldier, and that his respect for Underwood is 'completely unmeasurable.' He admired her resilience.

Denise Marie Scilabra noted that Underwood is beautiful and added that she couldn't' see the difference or any scars for that matter.

An Instagram user known only as Bobby added that Underwood gave an excellent performance at the ACM. The song was a 'big hit,' and she added that the talented singer 'brought the whole place to their feet.'

Underwood slipped and fell off the porch of her Nashville home in November 2017. She broke her wrist and sustained injuries to her face that resulted in nearly 50 stitches.

For the past five months, Underwood has stayed away from the spotlight and kept selfies and social media posts to a minimum.

In the few photos she did share of her face, she was either covered in a scarf or only showed one side of her face. In a blog post on her website, she explained why.

'When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.'
