When Lauren Blank turned 16 years old, her 72-year-old grandfather, Ron Petrillo, gave her a special gift that brought her immediately to tears.

According to Gladwire, the loving grandfather had given her a journal that had the day-to-day record of their lives starting from the day when Blank was two years old until she reached the age of five. So it was a gift that took Petrillo two years in the making.

Receiving a birthday present is always an emotional moment, but when Petrillo gifted her their story, it turned out to be the most special birthday gift ever.

The diary began choice words from Petrillo. It read: 'Hi Lauren: I’m just starting this so someday you might read it for fun. It’s going to be a day-to-day record of you and me.' The first entry was dated February 16, 2003.

Petrillo revealed how he had waited a long time to gift his granddaughter the journals that he so fondly wrote. He wanted to wait for the perfect time to give it to her.

Speaking about other choices of dates in the manner of gifting Blank the gift, Petrillo revealed that he was confused between her 16th birthday, 21st birthday, and after his own demise.

After much consideration, he felt that her 16th birthday was the best time to give the gift because, that way, he would still be around and they could both share and enjoy the memories together.

The source reported that Blank hasn't been through all the entries but she already has one of her favorite memories that was recorded in the journal.

“He used to do this ‘See Ya’ game, and he would run into the wall over and over and over and I would die,” the source quoted Lauren as stating.
