If you have ever thrown away some old coins believing it to be worthless, it's time to start taking a closer look at the coins.
There are many vintage coins that today are worth a lot more money than they were originally intended to be. Once no more than just 'chump change,' these vintage coins can bring you a fortune if you find them lying around in your wallet, Shared reported.
The online source suggests that if you have ever thrown away old spare coins considering it 'worthless,' it's probably a good idea to go through those coins yet again. They might have a lot more value today than they had in the past.
There are many such vintage coins so keep an eye out for the valuable ones. Some of these coins are:
1. 1894-S Barber Dime
These coins are worth millions of dollars, but it is believed that there are only nine of them that exist. Back in 2016, a coin collector paid $2 million to acquire one of these coins.
2. 1913 Liberty Head Nickel
Besides these coins, the Shield and the Buffalo nickel are all worth a few thousand dollars. If you possess an antique coin dating back to 19th or 20th century, and if it has a face on it, it's best advised to get your coin appraised.
3. 1943 Lincoln Head Copper Penny
This coin is a special one because it was made out of copper. During the 40's coins were mostly made by the U.S. Mint out of steel, and then they were coated with zinc.
If you have the actual Lincoln head copper pennies from as far back as 1943, you can have an asking price of almost $10,000.
4. 1955 Double Die Penny
A few doubled die pennies came out in 1955 due to a slight misalignment during the minting process. If this coin is available it a decent condition, it can be put up for sale at around $1,800.
