George Jones may have passed away in April 2013, but his legacy lives on, particularly in his most popular hit, He Stopped Loving Her Today. Recently country musician Josh Turner decided to take a crack at the tune.

As reported by Country Music Nation, the song has claimed many a victim over the years, with most simply avoiding taking it on altogether, given its prominence and the vocal giant that was Jones.

But Turner himself is a soulful and skilled vocalist, and the 40-year-old decided he wanted to honor the song with his own rendition of the major hit. Known for his own emotional approach to singing,

Turner poured his heart and soul into the beautiful tune, producing a wonderful performance of the heartwrenching song.

By the end of his performance, there wasn't a dry eye in the house, as the audience was moved by his tale of love lost and the price paid in the torment of that loss.

Turner's performance came at the 2006 Cracker Barrel Country Songs Of The Year Concert, to a packed auditorium who showed their appreciation of his sultry voice.

The song was first released by Jones in 1980, at a particularly low point not just in his career, but also in his personal life.

He Stopped Loving Her Today tells the story of a man who is still hopelessly in love with his ex, and how his devotion to her is only halted by his death.

Jones went on to win a Grammy award for the heart rending song.
