The experimental season of the hit dance competition just reached its midpoint and more athletes have been eliminated.

The recent episode of Dancing With the Stars has only left six pairs on the dance floor. As E! Online reported, the show said goodbye to two stars.

TV Line noted that the episode on May 7, 2018, was not only the week 2 installment of the show but also the third-to-the-last episode.

The two stars recently cut off were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Arike Ogunbowale.

While Abdul-Jabbar is a legend at his sport, it was a bit hard to work with him given his height. In fact, his partner, Lindsay Arnold, had to sit on the shoulders of another dancer just so she could actually dance with him.

As for Ogunbowale, her elimination is probably for the best since she had been balancing her studies and the competition over the past weeks.

With college finals around the corner, the athlete has been flying back and forth to Indiana just to catch up with her schooling.

E! Online suggested that the shortened season brings nostalgia to the fans. They explained that it is also a waste for some of the stars like Adam Rippon, Mirai Nagasu, Josh Norman, and Tonya Harding, who could have all done well on a normal season.

Also, the usual crowd-favorite Disney Night has been compressed to only one dance by Nagasu and Alan. Most viewers usually look forward to it.

Still, even though it had only been two weeks, both Nagasu and Rippon had received scores of nines and tens on the show. They are currently the ones expected to reach the finale.

Meanwhile, the previous episode’s results showed the couples in jeopardy were Abdul-Jabbar and pro Arnold, Ogunbowale and pro Savchenko, and Chris Mazdzer and pro Witney Carson.

In the end, Mazder and Carson were the ones sent to safety.

Dancing With the Stars is aired every Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
