On March 5, 2018, the public was alarmed after news of Miles being involved in a pedestrian crash incident emerged on the headlines. The accident, unfortunately, ended the life of her daughter, Abigail.

Miles and Abigail, at the time, were supposedly walking from a church event. They were accompanied by a friend, Lauren Lew, and Lew’s son, 1-year-old Josh Lew.

They were crossing 9th St. at Fifth Ave. in Park Slope when a driver named Dorothy Bruns, ran a red light and slammed into them. Abigail was run over by the car while Josh was dragged in his stroller for over a hundred feet.

According to witnesses, they saw Miles attempting to get up and get to her daughter but she was unsuccessful.

Aside from Abigail, 1-year-old Josh also did not make it and passed away. As for Miles, she was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

Three days later, a post from Miles’ Twitter account revealed that she was on the road to recovery. The post also revealed that the unborn baby was okay and alive.

It has been two months since the crash. Just recently, another sad news has been revealed. At 39 weeks, Miles lost her unborn baby.

She and her husband, Jonathan Blumenstein, were expecting to welcome their baby girl this month.

The family’s lawyer, Ben Rubinowitz, gave an official update regarding Miles’ current situation to the Daily News.

Rubinowitz said, "At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured. This past Friday Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein. The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom."
