American bishop steals the show at Harry and Meghan's wedding
'The 65-year-old Michael B. Curry is the 27th presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, delivered the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding address today.
The Chicago-born Bishop had the audience hanging from his every word, and he received praise for including quotes from Martin Luther King in his widely-televised speech.
The theme of his speech was centered around love, saying it "is the only way," and adding that there is power in love.
As reported by Independent, Bishop Curry was appointed almost two decades ago and has been outspoken against racial and economic inequality.
Netizens took to Twitter to express praise for Bishop Curry. Author Glennon Doyle said: 'Black preacher quoting MLK Jr at Meghan’s royal wedding. We’re gonna [sic] be okay. "
A user known as City Girl1 said the Bishop's 'fire and brimstone' is the kind she can get behind, while Ben Phillips declared the Bishop 'a legendary meme.'
Supermodel Naomi Campbell said Bishop Curry 'gave her life,' while Michelle Collins feels that his energy was exactly what the Royal wedding needed. 'We should all be grateful to Meghan for that,' she added.
