Blake Shelton and Hoda Kotb thrill fans with a major announcement

The pair have made an announcement that they will have the honor of hosting the pre-party for the awards.

Hoda Kotb will be minus her Today show partner on July 6, but she will have a long-time friend standing in for her co-host in the form of Blake Shelton.

They took to Twitter to confirm that they would be co-hosting the official pre-party for the CMT Music Awards on the same morning of the event.

Kotb and Shelton will have the honor of announcing the five finalists for video of the year on Today right from Shelton's Ole Red bar in Nashville.

Shelton himself is also nominated for two awards at the event, including the night's top honor and male video of the year for his hit tune I'll Name The Dogs.

Kotb and Shelton have been friends for a number of years already, with the television personality having named her rescue dog Blake after the country music singer.

Little Big Town is hosting the actual awards show from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on June 6 at 8 p.m. ET.

Voting for the winners of each category is currently open until June 4.
