Da Brat's sister LisaRaye posts video wearing white gown on her wedding day
LisaRaye, better known for her role in the movie “The Players Club” and the series “All of Us,” recently reminisced on her wedding day with a homemade video where she compared her big day to the Royal wedding. Fans had a lot to say about the bold move, calling out Lisa for trying to “steal” Meghan Markle’s big moment.
Celebritist was lurking around Instagram and we stumbled with a special video that LisaRaye McCoy shared on her account while the big Royal wedding was taking place across the pond in London.
The actress, who earned her fame after giving life to a stripper on “The Players Club,” has been married in two occasions. She tied the knot with Tony Martin in 1992 but filed for divorce two years later, and later, she married Michael Misick in 2006.
Misick had been elected the “Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands” in 2003, which made Lisa earn the title of "First Lady of Turks and Caicos Islands” for the time they were a couple.
Their wedding ceremony was a lavish one, worthy of people with high ranks in society, and it was followed by a three-week honeymoon to Jerusalem, Dubai, and Bali.
In 2008, Misick released a statement informing the public he and Lisa were divorcing, and a year later, he resigned to his charge after an investigation found signs of corruption on his administration. The man was accused of selling off public lands to fund his personal businesses, and he tried to escape by leaving the island, but he was eventually arrested in Brazil and taken back to Turk & Caicos to face trial.
Lisa doesn’t have the fondest memories of that marriage, but she seems to remember her wedding day with joy, as she recently brought back some photos from that day.
The 50-years-old actress tried to draw a parallel between her failed marriage and Meghan Markle’s marriage to Prince Harry, as she posted a video with photos of her and Meghan’s big days overlapping as she wrote in her caption:
“Whew...The Royal Wedding. I remember when my lovely mother walked me down the aisle. In my feeling today guys. An American actress, Black Bishop AND he's from Chicago, the tier (mine was American Actress Grace Kelly's).....the rules and traditions. A Fairytale for all of us to recognize anything is possible & believe in love.”
And added:
“Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan thanks for showing the world change is here and it's a new day. Happily Ever After #1stLady #Royalty #Duchess #AmericanActress #Love #LifeRocks”
Even though her intentions were clearly to congratulate the new royal couple, fans were not having it as they felt Lisa was trying to steal the spotlight by remembering everyone that she was also part of an important political family once.
Read some of the comments below:
“bigpepa592018: U really set yourself up on THIS! There really isn't any comparison 2 u n Meghan at ALL!!”
“sheri_surrency: Why would you compare your story with Megan? Harry is a true Prince, you married a fraud! Lol.”
“miss_nesbitt: @thereallraye1 why are you comparing, especially since yours ended in such scandal.”
The Royal wedding seems to have awoken in LisaRaye memories from happier days, and she wanted to share that with her true fans while taking the chance to congratulate a fellow Chicago actress.
