Savannah Guthrie addresses rumors about her alleged pregnancy
The 46-year-old broadcast journalist and Today co-host, Savannah Guthrie, addressed the pregnancy rumors once and for all. She isn't expecting a child.
Earlier this week, a viewer asked her on Twitter if she was expecting, and Guthrie replied that it was 'just the dress.' She added: 'Excuse me while I go burn it.'
The viewer, known only as Vdelph1970, has since deactivated their Twitter profile. That same day, Guthrie also retweeted a diagram depicting 'when is it okay to ask a woman if she is pregnant.'
The images showed the various stages of pregnancy, and under each stage was the word 'No.' The message is simple: there is never an appropriate time to ask that question.
Guthrie's fans rallied to Twitter and showed their support. Christine Burke begged Guthrie not to burn the dress. 'It is a great dress,' she added.
Ashlee Post said it is never okay to speculate about a woman's body while Chrissy Nelson loved the polka dot dress because it 'was adorable.'
Lisa Landers commended Guthrie for the way she handled the situation, and Amy Porter concurred, saying she couldn't 'quit laughing at this comeback.'
Joanna Rowland said it is 'no fun' to be asked that question, but added that Guthrie looked fabulous in the dress, while Dani Grace spoke from experience when she said it 'is devasting when someone asks that.'
Earlier this year on Today, Guthrie admitted that she doesn't have a 'very thick skin.' She loves receiving compliments, but she tries not to dwell on mean remarks.
"There certainly is a lot of criticism out there. Fair criticism, I'm open to. But criticism about your looks or hair? If you absorb it too much, it can get to you."

When people say they can see her wrinkles, she replies that they are called smile lines, and add that "those are the best kind of wrinkles."
