Ponytails for Sidibe! The actress went through a procedure to remove tonsils and she is gladly updating her fans on recovery. She has been posting photos on Instagram of her and her beloved cat, Aaron.

Gabourey Sidibe, an American actress best known for her roles in Empire and Precious, a role for which she won an Independent Spirit Award and nominations for Golden Globe and Academy Award, is the ideal example of positive body image. She has a vibrant online presence with followers that she keeps updated on most matters, and so in January she updated on Twitter she was getting her tonsils removed.

She finally had the procedure done last month and has been updating her circle through photos of her in facemasks and sometimes hanging out with her trusted cat, Aaron.

She recently posted a photo of herself in a cute dress and let the world know that her birthday was upcoming. ‘Very, very, nearly 35,’ was her caption to which the audience marveled at her youth. One comment read: “I was expecting her to be like 18 but...” while another fan chimed;

“I’m so proud of you!! you are super talented, beautiful, melanated and I love the fact that you are who you are and not trying to be the typical image of the world. You are doing the damn thing!!!! You give so many black women hope and inspiration. When I see you empire I’m just like.... Gabby is helping so many people in the world by being on this show and she probably don’t even know it. Just so proud of you girl!!! I love you beautiful black shining queen!!!”

There was a little hate too, but that was to be expected.

At Celebritist, we love that Sidibe is happy with her life and does not allow trolls to get to her. We also love that she is losing weight in a healthy manner and at her pace.
