Throwback to the time Prince William galloped like a horse

Prince William galloped like a horse during the Royal Variety Performance last year.

On  November 24, 2017, William and his wife Kate Middleton attended the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium Theatre, where the future king showed off his equestrian skills.

The show was hosted by Miranda Hart, an English actress, model, and comedian.

In scenes broadcast on December 19, 2017, Kate was seen laughing as the Duke of Cambridge duly obliged, shouting Miranda's catchphrase “Such fun!” from his seat, as reported by Telegraph.

But that wasn’t enough for Miranda. After the stellar performance of the cast of Annie, the host encouraged one of the young stars to request that William showcase his galloping - another one of her trademarks.

The father-of-three then galloping at the girl's request, proving he was a good sport.

Miranda once said that compelling William to participate was on her to-do list for her Royal Variety duties.

The host added that she had hoped to see his galloping and to be knighted "with a lightsaber."

Miranda believed that the prince had been a good sport in joining in.

When she was asked about how the show had gone, she said: "It was a great celebration of mood-lifting work."

Miranda also praised William's reaction, saying: “I did apologize to him at the end and he said he’d practice his galloping. I thought he was wonderful in joining in. I forgot to get him to knight me with a lightsaber but maybe another time.”

The Royal Variety Performance is a yearly fundraising stage show featuring British talent that’s televised every Christmas.

Last year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were accompanied by Laurie Mansfield, life president and executive producer of the Royal Variety Charity, and Giles Cooper, chairman and executive producer of the same.

William and Kate, who married in April 2011, welcomed their third child on April 23, 2018. They are already parents to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The couple's newest child, Louis Arthur Charles, is now fifth in line to the British throne.
