Ryan Evans, an 18-year-old striker from Mansfield Town Football Club, tragically passed away at home. Members of the club were saddened by the news.

Evans was the captain of the club’s under 18 performance group. Just days before he passed away, he had been given a spot in the U21 squad before the beginning of the season.

Jamie McGuire, the 18-year-old’s coach, extended his condolences to Evans’ family and said that he was sorry to hear the news of the young man’s passing.

“As a player, Ryan was a fantastic leader, always willing to learn and had a never-ending enthusiasm to do the best he could. It was for these reasons, amongst others, that I made him my captain last season,” said McGuire.

The coach went on to say that Evans will be remembered as a smiling young fellow who had “great energy and charm.”

The Chief executive officer, Carolyn Radford, offered her words in light of Evans’ passing.

She said, “We are deeply saddened to learn of Ryan’s passing; a young and talented footballer who was looking forward to U21s football with us next season.”

Radford also suggested that the club is willing to support Evans’ family in every way the can.

Many Football clubs sent their condolences on Twitter, including the Bolton Wanderers FC, writing, ‘Our thoughts and condolences are with Ryan's family, friends and all at Mansfield Town at this extremely sad time.’

The official account of Manchester City also tweeted in response to the Mansfield Town Football Club post announcing Evans’ sudden death.

The Manchester City Twitter account wrote, ‘Everyone at Manchester City sends their thoughts to Ryan's friends and family.’

‘Many thanks for the words regarding Ryan. We will be doing some activity to remember Ryan during pre/early part of season. If there is anything you may be able to support with please let us know. Many thanks,’ wrote Quorn AFC.
