Evans was the captain of the club’s under 18 performance group. Just days before he passed away, he had been given a spot in the U21 squad before the beginning of the season.

Jamie McGuire, the 18-year-old’s coach, extended his condolences to Evans’ family and said that he was sorry to hear the news of the young man’s passing.

“As a player, Ryan was a fantastic leader, always willing to learn and had a never-ending enthusiasm to do the best he could. It was for these reasons, amongst others, that I made him my captain last season,” said McGuire.

The coach went on to say that Evans will be remembered as a smiling young fellow who had “great energy and charm.”
