Grandma's emotional response to special blanket from granddaughter caught on video

The video showed an elderly woman unwrapping a special gift she was given by her granddaughter, Madeline Smith, for Christmas.

The woman’s reactions were captured on December 25, 2017, in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, reported Newsflare.

Smith revealed that her grandmother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2017. She started her chemo treatment just two weeks before Christmas that year.

Her battle with cancer had been extremely difficult for her for another important reason. She missed her husband of 56 years.

Smith said that her grandparents had a remarkable love for each other. Her grandfather had proposed to her grandmother on their second date.

They had been together, dealing with all the ups and downs in life for more than five decades. He had passed away about four years before she faced one of the biggest challenges in her life.

Smith wanted to create something memorable for her grandmother, something she could bring along during her treatment sessions, something that made her feel as if her husband was with her.

She came up with an idea to make a unique blanket for her. When the entire family was gathered for Christmas, she gave it to her grandmother.

The woman opened her gift that left everyone one emotional.

At first, she is surprised that her granddaughter made a blanket for her and when she is urged by her to open it completely, she is caught off guard.

She sees that her husband’s shirt is sewn into the blanket. She remembers that her granddaughter had asked for his shirt a few days ago.

The woman breaks down at the thought of being ‘wrapped in his arms’ as she faces some tough times ahead.

Smith said that it was a magical moment for everyone present at home and that they could feel her grandfather with them.
