Kim Kardashian West managed to convince President Donald Trump to issue an act of clemency regarding Alice Marie Johnson, who was in prison for the past 21 years.

Johnson, who is currently 63 years old, was sentenced in 1997 to a life in prison on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine and attempted possession of cocaine.

After learning of Johnson's case, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been working on getting her out of jail and was finally able to deliver some good news to her fans on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

West took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the U.S. President, to his daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, as well all those who made it possible to give Johnson a second chance at life.

This was Trump's sixth act of clemency ever since he has taken office, and the second granted after an appeal from a celebrity. In May, Sylvester Stallone raised awareness to Jack Johnson's case, who was falsely charged with abducting Lucille Cameron.

West was given the opportunity to meet with the President in the Oval Officer after reaching out to Ivanka, who passed the message directly to her father.

After analyzing the case, and considering Johnson's exemplary behavior behind bars in the last 21 years, Trump concluded that the 63-year-old had paid her debt to society and gladly agreed to let her go.

"While this administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance."

While President Trump agreed to issue the act of clemency, the same can't be said about Barack Obama due to the fact that the file never reached his desk.

According to CNN, a senior official for the Obama administration revealed that the former U.S. President followed the recommendations of the Justice Department, which rejected Johnson's three requests for a commutation.
