'Sons of Anarchy' actor found dead at only 47
"Sons of Anarchy" actor Alan O'Neill was found dead by his girlfriend in the hallyway of her Los Angeles apartment.
Law enforcement sources shared the tragic news with TMZ, saying his body was discovered by his girlfriend in the hallway of her Los Angeles apartment last Wednesday night. While no foul play is suspected, an autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death.
Sources have noted that the actor has had a history of heart problems and dangerous vices that included smoking and alcohol and drug abuse.
Before acting "Sons of Anarchy", Alan first started acting in 1997, in a TV movie called "Ballyseedy". He then acted in a 2001 miniseries called "Rebel Heart". However, he became most famous for his role as Hugh on seasons 6 and 7 of "Sons of Anarchy", as well as Keith McGrath in "Fair City". He also starred in a popular British show called "Inspector George Gently", and was recently announced as a castmember in an upcoming horror film called "Charlie Lives: The Family's Return".
The "Sons of Anarchy" fans seem to be in a familiar place especially since this is the second shocking death of one of the show's actors. In 2012, Johnny Lewis died at age 28 when he fell off the roof of a Los Angeles building just a few moments after murdering his elderly landlady Catherine Davis.
"Complete shock that he’s gone. Alan O Neill was a gentleman. A real Dublin man, hard as nails with a crazy twinkle in his eye. Went through some tough times chasing the acting dream in Los Angeles with him. When I had to move home, he stood with me on the side of Sunset Boulevard and helped me sell my stuff in a yard street sale, then we had beers and spoke about movies. I went back to London, he stayed, chasing the LA shadows and dreams. He acted in a little indie that i directed and that we never quite finished called The Cookies. He did it for me for the love of creating a character and some indie art. That’s what this picture is from. He loved watching McGregor fight. We saw him in Vegas, when the Irish took over. When it was simple. The world will miss Alan, he was an optimist and an artist - a bloke to walk mountains with and to have your back, with the crazy streak of Hunter S Thompson breaking down his soul.I will miss you buddy. We all will. But I am angry that you left without saying goodbye though. You better get me a beer when we meet again. You owe your family and friends that. Love always, be at peace now my friend.#alanoneill Death is a real motherfucker.I’ll get the Cookies finished and release it this summer, I owe him that. Already miss you buddy."
The Irish actor was 47-years-old, and will be remembered as a complete gentleman who worked hard to chase the Hollywood dream. He left behind a girlfriend and a teenage daughter named Cheyenne.
