Mother sobs in court as she is charged with the death of her 4-year-old
The 37-year-old Carly Ann Harris from South Wales was accused of killing her daughter, 4-year-old Amelia Brooke Harris.
The girl's body was found in Carly Ann's garden on the 8th of June. Emergency responders who were called out to the address found Amelia's body 'under a blanket.'
Family members of the deceased released a statement on Friday, which was shared on the Police department's Facebook Page, and the mother has since appeared in court.
The matter was relayed to the Merthyr Crown Court due to the severity of the case. Carly Ann only had to confirm her name and date of birth
'Amelia was beautiful both inside and out – and was a fun-loving, caring and bubbly little girl. She was taken far too early from us and had her whole life ahead of her'
Statement, Facebook/South Wales Police Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf, June 10, 2018.
They told authorities that words cannot describe their loss and that their lives have been irrevocably changed. The department put them in touch with 'specially trained Family Liaison Officers.'
As part of the investigation, an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact time and cause of death. The results should be available by the next court appointment.
The case soon made headlines. Friends, family, and members of the community have left cards, soft toys and flowers on the sidewalk of Carly Ann's home, Daily Mail and Wales News Service reported.
BBC Radio Wales presenter, Stephen Fairclough, shared photos of the tributes outside the Trealaw Rhondda house on Twitter.
Tensions were running high, with members of the community outraged by Amelia's death. The Police department issued a disclaimer on their social media profiles, urging 'everyone to think carefully about the consequences of messages.'
They vowed to take action against anyone who acted in an abusive manner. The story is developing; for more updates, follow our AmoMama USA Twitter account.
