President Donald Trump celebrated his 72nd birthday on the 14th of June 2018, but there was one notable absence in his immediate circle on that day.

First Lady Melania Trump was 200 miles away in New York on her husband’s 72nd birthday. Though good wishes rolled in from around the world and across the Nation, Melania did not acknowledge Trump's birthday on social media, reported People.com.

Stephanie Grisham, the FLOTUS official spokesperson declared that Melania was in New York with her team for work meetings from Tuesday to Thursday.

The President received birthday wishes from his daughter Ivanka Trump and son Eric Trump, and he told reporters that he had received "good kisses" from his wife.

“I got a lot of good kisses. I got a lot of phone calls from people.”

Speculation about the health of the relationship between the President and his wife has been rife since a scandal linked him to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

Melania, 47, was absent from public events for several weeks after undergoing kidney surgery. Her first public appearance after the procedure was on the 6th of June when she accompanied her husband to a briefing on hurricane preparedness in Washington, D.C.

When her husband flew to Canada on the 8th of June for a G7 summit, Melania did not accompany him.

The President told reporters that Melania had wanted to go but was not allowed to fly for one month. The FLOTUS spokeswoman, Grisham, explained that Melania was only barred from flying internationally.

Melania Trump has proved to be the most popular figure of the Trump administration and is admired for her elegance, gentle humor and genuine interest in the people she meets in the course of her duties as First Lady.
