The father of the Duchess of Sussex gave his first televised interview on June 18, using the opportunity to share his impressions on the royal wedding, which he couldn’t attend because of a heart surgery.

73-year-old Thomas Markle, a retired television lighting director and director of photography, was the subject of his share of scandal during the months prior to his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry, celebrated in May, Harper’s Bazaar reported.

After contradictory and changing reports on whether or not he was attending the ceremony, he finally was forced to stay home to recover from a surgical intervention and didn’t make it to the high-profile event.

Now, he seems to be in better shape, and he said to be doing much better. Thomas had an open conversation with Good Morning Britain and revealed his belief that Harry and Meghan will start having children ‘sooner or later.’

He started by saying that his 36-year-old daughter ‘has wanted children for a long time,’ before sharing his intuition that it would be only a matter of time before she and Harry start their own family.

‘When she met Harry she spoke about how much she loved him and so there has to be a child making somewhere soon. I don’t think there is a stork in the air yet but I think it will happen sooner or later,’ he anticipated.

Thomas also addressed the controversy that followed his collaboration with a paparazzo photographer to stage a series of photos that were sold to tabloid newspapers, apologizing once again for the shameful incident.

He shared that he knows now that making that deal with the photographer was a terrible mistake and that he was sorry to have done it, but he clarified that he didn’t take part on it to profit in any way but to change the way he was being portrayed.

‘This was a presentation for me to change my image because, for the past year, photographs of me were always derogatory,’ explained Markle.

‘They took all these pictures of me making me look negative, so I thought this would be a nice way of improving my look,’ he added about the ill-advised move. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
