Jillian Michaels, a former Biggest Loser trainer, announced that she split with her partner Heidi Rhoades. Naturally, the wedding is off.
Just recently, Michaels made the announcement on her Instagram page by posting a statement addressed to her fans she fondly calls her “tribe.”
The fitness trainer shared that her relationship with music manager Rhoades had reached its end for quite some time.
Michaels admitted that both of them realized they are better off as friends and parents who live apart from each other rather than being together in one home.
‘Life and people change but our love for one another and commitment to raising our two kids as an inseparable team remains. Thanks for always loving and supporting us, the feeling is mutual!’ she wrote.
As for Rhoades, she remains mum up until now about the split. The former couple shares two children together. In May 2012, Michaels adopted a girl from Haiti, while Rhoades gave birth to a boy on that same month.
In a 2015 feature for Health magazine, Michaels revealed then that she and Rhoades were not married yet.
She continued, "We were domestic partners. And, then, we had to co-adopt each other's kids."
In 2016, Michaels proposed to Rhoades inside a private movie theater and the who thing was aired on Michaels’ show on E!, Just Jillian.
Michaels had prepared two rings at the time, one for Rhoades and another one for herself.
Recalling the proposal, Michaels said at the time that Rhoades was the right one for her and likened her to a “safe haven.”
“The only place where there's like a solace—a safe haven—is with my family. And Heidi is the nucleus of that family. She's the glue that really holds everything together, and I think without that, I would be lost,” shared Michaels.
