In the photo, the pair took a selfie flashing their big smiles to the camera. Taraji put on a black-and-white blouse while her son, Marcell, wore an orange shirt and glasses.

For the caption, the mother wished her ‘handsome’ son a happy birthday. Taraji added that she could not believe how time flew by so fast. She finally admitted to being proud of the man that Marcell was becoming and urged him to keep growing and living his ‘truth.’

As soon as she uploaded that photo, her fans and followers took to the comment section to share their thoughts.

One of them was Instagram user Jo Gibson, who confessed that Marcell was the male version of Taraji. User Geannie Santiago also admitted that the actress’ son was her ‘mini-me.’

According to U Interview, Marcell was born in 1994 to Taraji and her then-boyfriend William Lamar Johnson. The relationship that couple had was a rollercoaster including physical abuse between them from time to time.

Despite the abusive behavior, Taraji did her best not to end their relationship for the sake of Marcell. However, the first time he shed her blood, she left him for good. After they parted ways, Taraji allowed her son to be with his father if he wanted.

Unfortunately, William was killed in January 2003. U Interview reported that the man had an argument with a couple, Russell and Charlotte Nickelson, over slashing a friend’s tires.

The Nickelsons reacted in a very aggressive way as they bashed a lamp on William’s head and repeatedly stabbed him.

Russell and Charlotte went to prison for voluntary manslaughter, only serving 50 and 36 months respectively.
