People: Brigitte Nielsen gives birth to her fifth child a week after Father's Day

Brigitte Nielsen, who starred in Red Sonja and Beverly Hills Cop II, has given birth to her first daughter, who she decided to name Frida.

The actress went into labor and brought Frida into the world on Friday, June 22, 2018. The baby was born healthy and Nielsen couldn't be prouder of her new bundle of joy.

Despite being 54 years old, Nielsen still wanted to have a fifth child, which was why she took her chances with In Vitro Fertilization treatments, as reported by People.

Frida will now be joining the former model's other offspring: 34-year-old Julian Winding, 28-year-old Killian Gastineau, 25-year-old Douglas Meyer and 23-year-old Raoul Meyer Jr.

Mattia Dessi, Nielsen's 39-year-old husband, had been eagerly waiting for the big day. In fact, just last week, Dessi posed alongside Nielsen in a very sweet photo on Father's Day.

The actress captioned the photo saying that Dessi would be a great father and that she loved him very much. In an exclusive interview with People, Nielsen revealed that she had never been more in love now that she had Frida.

The Danish-Italian announced her pregnancy on social media in late May by posting a picture of her baby bump in a curve-hugging dress as she was holding what seemed to be a tablet computer.

According to Nielsen, her love for children kept her going, which was why she decided to have another one. But, although she took on the responsibility of creating another life, Nielsen admitted that she wasn't always a good mother.

Nielsen, who married Dessi, her fifth husband, back in 2006, opened up about her long battle with alcohol addiction, as well as her rehab process, and how it affected her life as a parent.

She described herself as an affectionate and caring mother but remembered that there were times when she chose the bottle over her children. Still, Nielsen was thankful for their forgiveness and the bond they still have.
