Body of missing girl, 6, found hours after she disappeared

The body of Alesha MacPhail, the young girl who went missing from Rothesay, in Scotland, has been found on the Isle of Bute.

The discovery was made on Monday, July 2, 2018, in the grounds of a former hotel on Ardbeg Road and, so far, the police are yet to find a possible cause of death.

According to BBC, MacPhail's death is being considered unexplained, but it is known that the child was reported missing two-and-a-half hours before the body was found.

The death of the little girl has shocked the Rothesay's community and Detective Superintendent Stuart Houston claimed that it was of utmost importance to find out exactly what happened.

The police are currently urging anyone who might have some information regarding the investigation to come forward, no matter how insignificant it might seem.

Houston added that he wishes to talk to the people that were in the vicinity of Ardbeg Road when the body was discovered, as they might know something that can help bring the culprit to justice.

Right after learning that MacPhail was missing, the people of Rothesay joined the police and searched the surrounding area. Now, authorities' main priority is to piece together the last hours of the 6-year-old's life.

Despite the shocking incident, Houston was quick to guarantee that these type of situations are rare and that there is very little to fear considering that a team of detectives is working on the case.

A local resident, who goes by the name of John Morrison, told BBC that the community has taken MacPhail's death very personally and that everyone will be available to help the girl's family in any way possible.

Back in March 2018, 6-year-old Gabriel Cruz was also reported missing and was later found dead inside of a car in the Province of Almeria, in Spain, with Ana Quezada, who was dating the boy's father at the time, being accused of murder.
