'Z100' radio host, 53, is getting married to longtime boyfriend

Elvis Duran's boyfriend, Alex Carr, chose a very non-traditional and non-superstitious way to propose, and the pictures are on Instagram for our enjoyment.

Elvis Duran, the host of the Z100 show Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, is engaged to his boyfriend of 8 years, Alex Carr. The couple chose to announce their engagement on their Instagram account on July 14, 2018.

People released the exclusive video of the proposal. Alex Carr, who is a zookeeper at the Staten Island Zoo in West Brighton, proposed to Duran in a way that most people would consider unlucky.

He chose to propose on Friday the 13th, which in itself is considered to be an unlucky date. Furthermore, he did bend down on one knee, but not with a ring in his hand.

He opened a black umbrella which had "Elvis, will you marry me?" inscribed on it. As most people know, opening an umbrella indoors is also considered to be unlucky.

Carr, however, chose to brush off all these negative connotations attached to the date that stem from pure superstition. In his Instagram post announcing the engagement, he revealed that he was born on a 'Friday the 13th' and he has had a fortunate and fulfilling life, including meeting the love of his life, Duran.

Duran, for his part, chose to let the picture do the talking, as he left his Instagram post captionless. The photograph showed Duran and Carr together, with engagement rings in their hands with the joy visible on their faces.

The Elvis Duran and the Morning Show also confirmed the announcement as they wished the couple on their engagement. They shared a screenshot of Carr's Facebook page, which showed that the couple had changed their relationship status to 'Engaged.'
