Remember little Jazmine in 'House of Payne'? She's all grown-up & stuns in a floral crop top in pic
Former child star China McCain flaunts her budding beauty at 19 in a recent post. The young actress who’s also a singer was recently involved in a feud with Anita Baker after she defended her mother from the songstress’ alleged rudeness.
China McCain is all grown up and stunningly beautiful as evident in a recent photo she shared. The actress who first started her career at age seven and made waves on the small screen two years later in ‘House of Payne’ is now 19 and a breath of fresh air wearing a floral cropped top and tiny shorts in her post she captioned,
“Friday the 13th.who wants to go to Camp Crystal Lake with me?”
China’s career continued to flourish since her stint as Jazmine in Tyler Perry’s show ended in 2012. She moved on to other roles including Disney’s ‘A.N.T. Farm,’ ‘K.C. Undercover and ABC’s ‘Sing Your Face Off.’ Most recently, she teamed up with Disney again and took on the role of Uma in the Disney Channel original movie ‘Descendants 2.’
Aside from being an actress, China is also known to be part of her family’s singing group, McCain. Along with her two sisters, Sierra and Lauryn, they form the trio responsible for six of the songs in the ‘A.N.T. Farm’ Soundtrack which debuted in the Billboard 200 at number 29.
And while she makes her mark in Hollywood, China never forgets her family. She told Twist in 2016,
“My family is pretty much everything to me. They have inspired me and taught me so much. I definitely would not be where I am as a person if it weren’t for my family caring for me as much as they have. I will always appreciate them for that!”
Proof of China’s loyalty to her family was a recent feud she had with Anita Baker as she defended her mom from the legendary singer’s alleged rudeness. She tweeted she and her mother Shontell had the unfortunate experience of meeting Anita who she claims yelled at her mother after telling her she liked her music.
“Wow.. My mom unfortunately just met Anita Baker and she was so rude.. She like, started yelling at my mom for saying she liked her music. Wow. So disappointing @Iamanitabaker”
Having tagged Baker, the 60-year-old songstress responded and told her side of the story.
“No one knew me or noticed me. No entourage, no special attention. Just quietly filling out my passport app…. until? A VERY LOUD, person announces to the entire office, that I’m some V.I.P/which, I am not & ALSO? Announces ‘they are V.I.Ps doing a movie’ or [something]?”
She added,
“Lordy Gawwwwd #HireAPublicist”
But China wasn’t about to back down. She tweeted,
“My mother is a pro, Ms. Baker. She knows how to QUIETLY compliment someone, which is what happened (there were only like eight people there) However, God knows the truth. The Word teaches us to love & respect one another and that’s not what you did today. God bless. @iamanitabaker.”
“My mom quietly said to her ‘Ms. Baker, I love your music,’ And she just started going off on her,” she said replying to her “Black Lightning” co-star Krondon. “So sad brother.”
As a second response, Baker posted this message no longer tagging the former Disney star.
“My fans are “Lovely & Courteous” they say, Hi! & I say, “Hi!” #PeacefulPeople.”
Soon after, fans began weighing in on the feud, some siding with China and saying there was no excuse for Baker’s behavior while others believed China and her mother should have respected the singer’s privacy.
Nevertheless, the point of that story is China would do anything for her family, and that incident certainly proved it.
