'Glory' star makes rare appearance in all-black outfit at premiere of new film

Denzel Washington was dressed to impress at the premiere of his latest movie.

Actor Denzel Washington was present with a whole list of celebrities at the LA premiere of his first ever sequel, The Equalizer 2. You can see the star at the red carpet premiere, on the movie's official Instagram page.

The premiere was held on Tuesday, July 17 at the TLC Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and celebrities such as Wesley Snipes, LL Cool J and Dwight Howard of NBA fame graced the occasion.

The star of the show, Washington was seen sporting an all-black ensemble, which consisted of a black blazer on top of a black T-shirt, along with black trousers and black sneakers.

The Man on Fire actor, who has spent more than three decades in the film industry is renown for both his critically acclaimed and blockbuster movies. He has won two Academy Awards till date.

To his credit, in all these years of acting, this is the first time that Washington has been part of a sequel to any movie.

Most actors take roles in sequels and franchises as it is usually less risky than doing a brand new project, and gives them more option to experiment in the future.

However, the 63-year-old actor's movie choices and their consequent success at the box office has kept him out of the franchise game until now.

The new movie is a sequel to the sleeper hit The Equalizer, which was released in 2014, and performed much more than was initially expected.

It grossed over $100 million in the domestic market itself, making it a viable source for a sequel.

The movie was about a retired government employee, who starts to single-handedly fight back against organized crime syndicates, using household items like hammers.

is set to release in theatres on July 20, 2018.
