Frank Sinatra's daughter paid touching tribute to mother Nancy following her death

Nancy Sinatra Sr. was 101 years old when she peacefully passed away in her sleep.

Frank Sinatra's first wife and childhood sweetheart passed away last week on Friday, July 13, 2018. She died peacefully in her sleep. Nancy Sinatra, her eldest daughter, confirmed the news of her death through her Twitter account.

Her first daughter Nancy, with whom she shares her name, and who has followed her father's footsteps to become a celebrated singer in her generation, mentioned in her tweet that her mother was a blessing and the light of her life.

In another tweet, she thanked her fans and followers for their thoughts and prayers. She said that her mother was a strong woman and that she fought to survive till the very end.

Native to Long Branch, New Jersey, Nancy Sr. had shifted to Beverly Hills to follow Sinatra after their marriage.

At the time of their marriage, Sinatra was still a struggling musician and worked tables to bring home food for the family while she worked as a secretary.

Though their marriage fell apart in a little over ten years, she stayed in the Hills, to continue with her charitable work. She was rumored to have been close to the musician long after their separation.

The legendary singer had been unfaithful to Nancy Sr., with actress and musician Ava Gardner, which was the main reason why the couple filed for divorce, ten years and three children after their marriage.

After the affair became public, he divorced Nancy and tied the knot with Gardner instead. Sinatra would go on to marry two more times but Nancy Sr. never did so again.

Nancy Sr. is survived by two of her daughters, Nancy, and Tina Sinatra, along with their children and grandchildren. Her son Frank Sinatra Jr. passed away in 2016.
