Thomas Markle furious after being accused of having a drinking problem

Thomas Markle is “furious” at Sharon Osbourne after she accused him of having a “drinking problem” and called for him to “stop embarrassing” his daughter.

Sharon was speaking about the Duchess of Sussex’s dad Thomas on the US panel show The Talk when she claimed he should ‘get [himself] clean and sober and then come back. Just be happy for your daughter. Let her live her life.'

According to a CBS report, on her show, the X Factor judge said: “It is so obvious that you have a bad drinking problem. And it’s obvious that over the last few years, you haven’t been close with your daughter.

Now, Thomas Markle’s friends have jumped to the defense of the retired lighting director, by insisting he doesn’t have a drinking problem, only occasionally having a glass of wine with a meal.

'She is so dignified you should try to give a little bit of that dignity for her,' Osbourne also said, before noting the Duchess of Sussex must 'feel so humiliated, so embarrassed by her father. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa

A source told The Sun newspaper: "He's shocked about these claims. It's totally untrue and he's been through enough with his recent health issues without people making these sorts of allegations.”

Osbourne's claims come following Thomas Markle's allegations that his daughter is 'terrified' and he can 'see it through her smile.' “He's livid. Utterly furious. Sharon Osbourne doesn't know him at all. How dare she say these things," said the source.

The retired lighting director hasn't spoken to his daughter, the Duchess of Sussex, for over two months now and has been making public pleas for her to answer his calls because he's concerned that she's "unhappy."

Thomas told the paper he was worried for his daughter, adding: 'I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile. I've seen her smile for years. I know her smile. I don't like the one I'm seeing now... This is a pained smile.'
