Brian McKnight has 2 sons who are all grown 'handsome young men' in pic from his wedding
The Grammy Award-nominated singer, who tied the knot for the second time this year, is the father of two handsome men. While they showed an interest in the music industry from an early age, the boys are now making a name for themselves in different careers.
Brian McKnight is one of those R&B singers that have stayed relevant for years thanks to his timeless music and elegant style.
Better known for hit songs like “One Last Cry,” “Anytime,” “Back At One,” and “Find Myself In You,” McKnight has not limited his talent to the recording booth. He has acting credits on Broadway, film, series, and has also hosted a radio show and a late-night show.
However, Brian has stated that he is not part of the music industry, but rather a part of the “tour industry.”
“The record industry is more for 18-25 [year olds], that’s as long as you get in the mainstream,” he explained to The Drop a few years ago.
Instead, McKnight focuses on bringing his show to every city where loyal fans can welcome him with open arms.
“That’s what I do, and I love being on the road and seeing my fans."
Earlier this year, the 49-years-old tied the knot with his second wife, Leilani Mendoza, whom he started dating in 2013, the same year he finalized his divorce with Julie McKnight, the mother of his two sons: Brian Jr. and Niko.
While the wedding was back in January, Brian recently took to his Instagram to post a throwback picture from the ceremony, posing next to his grown-up sons and Leilani’s youngest son too.
In the pic, all the boys are wearing black suits and white t-shirts, but Brian has a bow tie while his sons are rocking matching black ties and their respective boutonnière.
He wrote in the caption:
“Throw back to our wedding day with my sons happiest day of my life #iloveourlife #brianized #mr&mrsmcknightworldtour.”
These days, Brian Jr. is a father one, creator and songwriter.
Niko, on the other hand, has found his passion in photography, working for celebrities such as rapper Ty Dolla Sign and NBA star Jay Williams, according to his Instagram page.
A few years ago, the brothers formed the vocal group McKnight with the guidance of their father. They traveled around the world with Brian to learn everything that being in the music and tour industry entails, and they even released a single, “Love,” back in 2009.
While Brian stated at the time that he thought the boys were ready to face the industry, something must have happened along the way for them to decide not to continue with their musical journey. At least not together.
Either way, the McKnights are still a happy and loving family, and despite not working together is clear that they have each other’s backs.
