Meghan Markle and Prince Harry honor gravely ill children at the WellChild Awards
This is so touching!
On Tuesday night the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. The event is one of the year’s most emotional events,
The annual event which honors both children who are gravely sick and their caregivers is one of the highlights of Prince Harry’s public calendar.
The royal couple attended the pre-reception ceremony where they met with the young winners of each category together with their respective families. Following this they attended a star-studded ceremony where they celebrated the inspiring qualities of the children of WellChild.
Dressed to impress Prince Harry wore a navy suit with a white shirt while Meghan wore an elegant black Altuzarra trouser suit. This was perfectly matched with a black Deitas blouse, matching clutch and heels. Meghan’s look was completed with her diamond and pearl earrings that were gifted to her by the Queen and a faux bag by Stella McCartney.
Prince Harry who enthusiastically continues the legacy of his late mother, Princess Diana has been a patron of WellChild since 2007. He had the honor of presenting the award for the Most Inspirational Child and he also delivered a very heartwarming speech. He said,
“First, let me congratulate all of those nominated tonight. Every one of you is truly amazing. You have shown all of us what it means to be a champion – whether for yourself, your family, your community, or someone in need.”

Among the honourees were seven-year-old Matilda Booth, from Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, who has spina bifida and four-year-old Mckenzie Brackle from Fife who has acute flaccid paralysis. Matilda, who is also paralysed from the chest down, has had more than 40 operations while Mckenzie’s battle with acute flaccid paralysis began following a virus. He has had to learn to speak, swallow, eat, drink and move again.
Also in attendance at the event were prominent English television personalities Matt Allwright and Gaby Goslin, renowned professional dancer Ian Waite and celebrated philanthropist and television presenter Katie Piper.
With many loving the fact that Meghan and Prince Harry have just chosen a name for their dog, the royal couple continues to share their warmth and love with all those they meet. After all many may still be talking about the pleasant surprise they received just days ago at the Hamilton Sentebale Gala Prince Harry walked onstage and sang briefly!
