Kim Kardashian West attended a White House meeting yesterday on prison reform. She used the opportunity to speak to the president about freeing a prisoner.

TMZ reported that Kardashian attended the meeting late at night, cloaking the event in secrecy. But Hogan Gidley, Deputy Press Secretary, described what happened:

"Today at the White House, members of the Administration are hosting a listening session about the clemency process. The discussion is mainly focused on ways to improve that process to ensure deserving cases receive a fair review."

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star reportedly flew from DC to L.A. to have the sit-down and rally for the release of a drug possession prisoner.

Others in attendance included Leonard Leo, Shop Hopwood, Jared Kushner, CNN commentator Van Jones, and Judge Kevin Sharp. Sharp sentenced Chris Young back in 2010.

Young was given a life sentence in Tennessee for cocaine and marijuana possession. Now 30, he received the sentence due to mandatory minimum sentencing.

Kim spoke to the "Wrongful Conviction" podcast and explained Young's situation. Sharp retired not long after sentencing Young because he couldn't reconcile his unjust actions with his post.

He is now fully behind Kardashian's side to get some laws.

She also said Young has sickle cell anemia and has been in and out of a medical facility and a maximum security prison. Somehow, he's managed to stay out of trouble even with the high risk of stabbings and other problems.

Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law, is also passionate about efforts towards getting deserving prisoners pardoned. His own father was incarcerated for 14 months for non-violent crimes.

Kardashian began her advocation for prison reform back in May when she shared an open letter from a grandmother in prison.

A week after speaking to Trump, Alice Marie Johnson, 63, was released from behind bars. She had been in prison for over two decades.
