'WONDERFUL HUSBAND'

Mary delivered an emotional speech as she helped her husband accept the honor given to him in the Country Music's Hall of Fame in Nashville.

"They really said there was no hope; go ahead and pull the plug," Mary tearfully recalled. "I went to his bedside and I said, 'Baby, you've got to give me some more fight.'"

She continued: "And I knew that he had had a little talk with Jesus, because he squeezed my hand, and a little tear fell down. And I knew he wasn't through yet. He's a wonderful man; he's a wonderful husband. I'm blessed beyond measure to get to walk beside him."

Randy and Mary were still engaged when he suffered a stroke in July 2013. They tied the knot in Texas two years later.

Despite the debilitating stroke, Randy continued to have a positive outlook.

Mary praised her husband for his optimism throughout his struggle with the effects of the stroke.

She said Travis would always wake up with a smile on his face and goes to bed still smiling.
