Mariah Carey recently posed for a photo with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and shared it on her Instagram page. But she could not have expected the strong words that came from fans in the comment section.

Carey stunned in a beige long-sleeved dress with plunging neckline detail and put her slimmer curves on display. The “One Sweet Day” crooner was flanked by Mayweather, who looked stylish in a striped waistcoat-and-pants set. He paired the outfit with a white shirt, brown leather boots, and a wide-brimmed hat.

Despite generating over a hundred thousand likes, many of Carey’s comments bashed her for taking a picture with the “champ.” While some of the remarks bordered on Mayweather’s outfit choice, the bulk of them pointed out his history of abusive behavior towards women.

One fan thought to warn Carey of her friendship with the boxer. “BE CAREFUL MIMI HE IS A BAAAD MAN,” the comment read.

Other followers openly expressed their disappointment in the R&B star:

“Disappointed everytime you take a pic with this egomaniac who has been physically abusive to women”- @richierich279

“He has a history of violence against women, sis. Just gonna look the other way, huh??”- @dee.em.carts

One upset user left a lengthy comment, calling out Mayweather and comparing him to shamed actor Bill Cosby:

“It’s always worrying when fans of his dismiss/ignore / the facts of how he sees women. They crave to be accepted by him and in turn FAIL to accept the FACTS that he likes to hit women and think that it’s ‘normal ‘ mainly due to his wealth and his fans building his pedestal even higher. Fans of his are complicit when they chose to ignore his TRUE nature. A similar (but not the same) mindset allowed Bill Cosby to continue to do what he did for decades!! If he had a sense of shame/ guilt, he would visit schools and universities and talk honestly about domestic abuse and express remorse, and/or fund domestic abuse shelters, etc. But it’s unlikely he would ever do that”- @tianoloze1111

Meanwhile, this is not the first time Carey and Mayweather would be pictured together. Carey was one of the many celebrities that showed up for the champ’s lavish birthday bash in February.

It appears the five-time Grammy winner belongs to Mayweather’s inner circle, but as is evident, are fans are not happy about it.
