WHERE COSBY WILL BE INCARCERATED
He will spend the first days of his incarceration at Montgomery County Jail where-after it’s expected he would serve the rest of his sentence at SCI Phoenix in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, according to a spokeswoman for the Montgomery County district attorney’s office.
This brand-new state-of-the-art prison about 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia is modern, with little resemblance to other prisons. Secretary of Corrections, John Wetzel described the prison as:
“A 21st-century institution with advanced security features, environmentally efficient infrastructure and modern work and housing spaces.”
Upon arrival assessments of his security, medical and physical needs will be made by staff but could end up in the prison’s long-term medical care unit.
WHAT OJ SIMPSON HAD TO SAY
They released Simpson from prison last October after serving nine years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping. He commented that the responsibility of ensuring Cosby’s safety would be unwanted by any warden due to his age and nature of the crime.
Golfing at the time in Nevada, Simpson said:
“They’re gonna have to put him into protective custody because it takes one nut, ya know? Sure there will be guys protecting him. They should let him do his time under house arrest.”
Simpson voices his thoughts on Cosby’s sentence as too severe, calling for mercy and adds:
“With his health and his age and the nature of the crime, there’s not a warden in this country wants the responsibility of a Bill Cosby. I think they should let him do his time under house arrest.”
Bill Cosby and OJ Simpson first met in 1985 at the wedding of “The Cosby Show’ co-star Phylicia Rashad to former pro football player Ahmad Rashad. Television stars and sports icons attended the high profile wedding. Cosby was at the height of his career and Simpson an NHL Hall of Famer and best man to Ahmad. Inevitably their paths to crossed brought on by shared friend Ahmad Rashad.
